So, the commentators here routinely refer to the J-cops as Keystone Cops, criticize the decisions of the judges, believe the pols of all stripes are incompetent bureaucrats.. WHY would you trust THIS country to be able to carry out the most grim responsibility, the one where there is absolutely no room for any degree of error?

Congrats to Harumafuji. It's been a lot of fun watching his enthusiasm as he moved up the ranks. I just hope that it's not premature, as this perfect 15-0 tournament happened as most of the ozeki took two weeks off for injuries. But he's beating Hakuho, so that's a good sign he might have some longevity.

Kapuna, the actors and crew were told they were doing a completely different story based 500 years earlier to Muhammad's life. The dialogue was redubbed in post-production, making the actors appear to say lines they never actually uttered.

Americans have no stomach for a confrontation with China. Japan has no capacity for a confrontation with China. Washington will remain neutral for as long as possible and try to drag it out until after the election at least.

The image of Abe's pathetic term in office that will always stick with me was the day he tried but couldn't present the winner of a Sumo Basho with the Prime Minister's cup. The weakling couldn't pick it up.
A bunch of right-wing trust fund babies out to reassert Japan's supposed strength, which they themselves have had no role in creating and building, nor have they any role in supporting.
These guys are the living embodiments of that German Newspaper's criticism of Japan never having reexamined and reflected over its militarist and colonial past. Now aging and more dependent than ever on imports, is it really the time for rich boys rattling sabres the rest of the nation cannot afford? Or to make threats that can't be backed up?

How many blue collar workers who might be able to handle a rifle are going to be willing to go when some war monger tells them it's time to go kill and die for a ROCK?

The U.S. is not about to get into a war with China. The budget is gutted because of two unfunded wars. The first has lasted a decade and the other (against the country that didn't attack us) is only winding down now. Things are going south in northern Africa. The American public has no stomach for a confrontation with a country that can fight back.
There are also bad feelings left over from the Okinawa base debacle, and the constant changing of the guard in Tokyo. There's a sense that no one is in charge in Tokyo.
Washington is also well-aware that this heating of tensions was caused by a crazy old man who shouldn't be driving around town, let alone being allowed to be governor of the world's biggest city. At least our crazy old men have arguments with empty chairs, we don't let them have the keys to major metropolises.

Nah, this is because Katie clearly had this thing planned out for a long time. She fired Tom Cruise's daughter with Nicole Kidman 2 months ago. The daughter worked on Katie's fashion company.
Either Tom and Katie's lawyers had been working on the divorce for at least that long, or Katie ambushed Tom and given the rumors about him, made him an offer he and his Scientologist lawyers could not refuse.
The lawyers get their cut, the gossip mags will have fun chasing the details. Eventually it will come out. And by "come out" I absolutely did not mean to imply anything about any of the principles in this story. Because, you know, he's totally not. Totally.

Premature to label him a "Hitler", but more like an Pinochet or Franco. No discernible beliefs, except to hack away at perceived Left-Wing institutions like unions and . Yakuza links. How come it wasn't "wealth redistribution" when the rich started getting their unfair tax cuts 32 years ago? Nope, all forms of conservative economics fail in real time and we can all see. Tax the rich. It's not 'their' money, it never was 'their' money.

Posted in: At least 100,000 march in Spain over austerity See in context
Nope. MORE regulations, rules, and taxes on the parasites who suck money out of the economy, and less austerity. Reaganomics failed (it's been 32 years, when's the trickle-down going to start?), Cameron is now known to be a charleton, and even the WSJ journal is admitting austerity has failed. And before all of the thumbs down starts and some cons explain how they are scholars of "Austrian Economics", may I remind you that we can see the results of austerity in real time. It's failing. Time to go left, just like we were when things were going well.
