Posted in: Yasuko Matsuyuki's younger brother arrested for assaulting Tokyo taxi driver See in context

Actually it was Yohei Matsuyuki that is accused of kicking a taxi driver. It just happens to be the younger brother of the actress/singer. Why is the article written as though becuase of the bro-sis relationship, this alleged crime had taken place. She is not his baby-sitter and I doubt that she actually knew where he was at that given time. Now is she required to do an apology infront of TV camera's for something stupid that her brother did?

referring to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s speech made before a meeting of the International Olympic Committee last month, in which he said the situation at Fukushima was under control.

Exactly!! I don't undestand how world leaders, as well as the Olympic Comittee hasn't called Abe out on this yet.

Posted in: Powerful typhoon pummels Kanto; heads toward Fukushima See in context

It's pretty amazing how many posts are on this one thread alone about the typhoon, Fukushima and what may occur during the typhoon. Many of the posters state their concerns...some legitimate, some not. But all of the posts are important. You would think TEPCO would sit around a table and discuss exactly what is being discussed on this thread as well as any other thread about the typhoon and Fukushima on the net. I have a pretty good feeling that we are going to see some news about stupid mistakes that happened during the typhoon because TEPCO executives are too stupid to listen to the public or figure out the worst case scenarios and how to deal with them before they happen. I guess common sense and proactive doesn't exist in TEPCOs dictionary.

Maezono scored four goals in his 19 international matches between 1994 and 1997.

That's the stats for a soccer star? Let's see...thats four goals in 19 matches over a three year period, so that would be an average of...damn, I can't calculate fractions, number is too small.

Heat two or three umeboshi on low heat, making sure they don’t burn and add them to a cup of hot tea. Drinking the tea causes you to sweat, which is said to lower your temperature and make you get better faster.

Why heat the umeboshi if you're going to put them in hot tea? And why would you want to lower your temperature when a fever is caused by your body fighting off infection/disease?

Well, taking the scientific approach by carefully examining the picture, it seems to have a set of some rather big "Kahunas"....must be a boy.

Posted in: Japanese breakdancer wins Asia-Pacific competition See in context

WRONG NAME first of all, but you are entitled to your opinion but do you realize its competition for the best dancer? Its not some recital for little children and its something positive in a creative form or fashion. In the spirit of competition, these boys and girls are doing some they love and that is dancing, no matter form. To them, it a fight to be the BEST......

@Truman, Wrong Name? Posting Police are we?

And yes, I do realize this is a compitition for dancing. Your point is? I give it to them for doing what they love, but don't try and compare it to boxing. They have nothing on a pro boxer. If its the compitition that drives them, then state it as such, but don't compare it to another sport.

but is expected to turn east sometime Tuesday.

So it is gonna change direction.

@nandakandamanda, I get all that meteorological junk, but there is no way a typhooncan head towards Okinawa and not change direction then make landfall on Honshu as the article states...unless its coming straight from Okinawas south. Which is not the case for this typhoon.

, Typhoon Wipha was moving northwest at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour toward Okinawa. The agency said its wind speed was 234 kilometers per hour. If it doesn’t change direction, the typhoon is expected to make landfall over Honshu late Tuesday

If it's heading towards Okinawa and doesn't change direction, how the hell is it supposed to hit Honshu?
