I don't have any worth as a person. I have no choice but to kill a lot of people and get the death penalty

I have no choice?? He does have a choice! He can turn his life around for the better. Kyota Hattori is a weak human being!

I guess you never heard of interest rates.

I'm no economist but my understanding of how the pension schemes works is for it to be effective it need a large working population. The opposite is happening right now. The working population is decreasing and elderly population is increasing. Less money is coming in and more money is coming out. Letting immigrants in to work is a solution but that won't happen any time soon.

A declining birthrate is just what we require in an already grossly over -populated country and indeed world.

I hope you have a retirement plan because you can kiss your Japanese pension goodbye!

Wow that's really scary! Maybe they should introduce some self defence courses at schools. A lot of weirdos out there.

Looks like it was intentional but the question I have for the man is why? He needs to get a job too. There are no excuses. There is plenty of work out there.

Careless by the driver. He had a difficult passenger but she should have been aware of the danger. I think they get training about safety.

Young people don't pay pension premiums, they just save their own money.

True. A lot are not paying into the system. The amounts are ridiculous relative to what they earning. A lot of freeters out there.

Some seem to think a country with a low birth rate is a good thing. Very naive!

What a pathetic world we live in when we see people doing acts like this.

Posted in: If you currently live in Japan, do you think you will, or would like to spend the rest of your life here? See in context

No. I think a lot of people like living in Japan long term but to live here forever is a big step. There's a lot more to like about my home country over Japan as far as retirement is concerned. In Japan retiring in the countryside is very affordable. In the cities it's very expensive and the other issue is the rising costs due the growing elderly population. The pension system in place is a big worry too.

The future of a country is its people. What if there are no productive people around? Old people can be still be productive however they've worked long and hard and deserve to retire and enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Japanese are all very rich.

How is that possible? The minimum wage is still 1000 yen an hour. lol

This is not a debate about country or city, it's about type of housing to select in a country experiencing the greatest demographic non war based collapse in the history of the world

Exactly!

Time waster. Need to be punished and understand why his actions are not normal.

Also red meat and white potatoes. Something not good mixing starches with red meat I feel.

Agreed. Red meat in itself is not bad but mixing with starches seems to be problematic. White rice was traditionally eaten with mostly vegetables in Asian countries, but now we are seeing people in Asia having health isssues due to introducting lots of red meat mixed with the white rice.

Posted in: China reaffirms threat of military force to annex Taiwan See in context

China wouldn't dare try to forcibly annex Taiwan if they had nukes... The US could easily remedy that... just pointing out an obvious solution that would stabilize the whole region and make everyone less afraid of war.

Interesting comment. I'm interested in what a Japanese would think. Many say no to nukes. So Taiwan is vulnerable. China invades Taiwan which is historically Chinese land and annexes it. That leaves Japan vulnerable.

It seems the best way to minimize Covid right now is social distance.

Posted in: Do you consider the A-bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to be war crimes? See in context

I meant: "The major war criminals ARE the people who start a war in the first place.

Agreed. It starts off with an aggressor who decides to unlawfully invade another country. We are seeing this today. Russia (the aggressor) invades the Ukraine.

Japan may have kept on fighting if it wasn't nuked. If you think they would of surrendered quickly that comes off as a bit naive. I recommend to everyone if you are not aware is to read about the Nanjing massacre, and the good Nazi John Rabe.

Posted in: Top 5 myths about learning Japanese See in context

It's a very tough language to master if your not raised speaking it. Whilst there are a lot more foreigners nowadays being able to speak and read it to various degrees due to the increase in interest in Japan, there would only about 10 to 15 percent who speak it at a high level. No surprises that 10 or 15 percent of people really studied the language. Years of study and living in Japan got them there. You don't necessarily have to live in Japan to master it. If you can find a native speaker in your home country and spend hours speaking Japanese with that person it can be done. One of the big obstacles you may find when learning Japanese is many of the Japanese people you run into it might want to speak English to you. It does you no good in learning their language. It is best to find a Japanese friend who will speak only Japanese to you. I highly recommend getting a Japanese teacher too. Many foreigners attempt to learn it without one which is not good in my opinion. Japanese language is not something you can just start and stop. I've seen many get very good at it and then stop learning and practicing it. Once you stop you will lose your skills quite rapidly particularly reading and writing. You have to see it as something that you will continue throughout your entire life.

Posted in: Japanese watch Abe's Yasukuni shrine visit with mixed feelings See in context

Has Japan formally apologized for its war atrocities during world war 2? If so than I think China and Korea should move on. I have no problem with the PM visiting the shrine as long as he recognizes Japan did wrong and were evil.
