Predictable, boring, victim card playing rubbish.

But a nice city nonetheless.

What does this even mean?

> Yamashita will be Japan's sole refereeing representative -- man or woman -- at the World Cup.

> She said she feels a responsibility to "help Japanese football improve" while also furthering the cause of women's refereeing worldwide.

Yawn

But no one really gives a crap it seems. HS and JHS school trips here have increased, tourists from mainland are jamming hotels, the airport is busier now than it has been for over 2 years, people are getting sick and dying too.

The irresponsibility of the Japanese has been shocking.

I will take the feeling of pride and responsibility as a REFEREE would have been more fitting imo.

Exactly.

But she chose to go down the route of being 'a Japanese', and thus being the only nationality in the world to have pride and responsibility.

Absolute rubbish.

Great that she's going to ref in Qatar though.

I rather wonder how come Japan , the only Asian, Non-NATO country speaking up like this has to be blamed like that.

Because Japan has always lacked empathy for anyone but themselves.

The way i see it, Japan holds a massive grudge against Russia, and before didn't do/say anything to upset Russia out of fear.

Now that most countries are condemning Russia, Japan is hiding behind them and feels safe.

Perhaps ridiculous and cynical, but it makes more sense than Japan suddenly becoming this kind, generous country.

These are not normal circumstances. A major conflict in Europe killing many tens of thousands in a few short months and cities being leveled.

It's strange how I never remember Japan taking an interest in other serious, tragic world conflicts.

Ever.

I'm in my 70's.

No, unless you only consider Tokyo to be pertinent to the discussion!

> We have had well over 30,000 new cases since May first here, hardly a "downward trend"

That's fair enough, @Yubaru

I'm looking at Japan as a whole to be honest. I'm up in Hokkaido, still.

It's a nice gesture, but I'm very curious why Japan is doing this.

It's not as if this is a normal way to behave for Japan.

Me thinks there is a motive behind this, unfortunately.

@divinda, yes, because people without covid usually don’t get tested for covid. It’s not rocket science.

My prediction for next weeks’ games -

> Liverpool win, & Villa draw with City.

> Headline reads - ‘Gerard wins the title for Liverpool’

Well, I hope not. Man City are awful, but Liverpool are worse.

Villa, bless them, won't be getting anything at the Emptyhad. It won't be nice to see that rat Grealish win the league, but he's been a bit part player all season for Man City.

Hopefully Villa get rid of Gerrard in the summer and bring in a proper manager. Gerrard is a bit clueless.
