Posted in: Man arrested for kidnapping teenage girl he met on social media See in context

She's a teenager, and teenagers' brains are not yet fully formed, and they haven't the kind of life experience which helps weigh up or understand the consequences of decisions.

According to bigthink.com, The human brain isn't fully developed until 25 years of age. Shouldn't we raise the age of consent?

Does anyone remember Fukushima? This Olympics was somehow going to help Fukushima (how, I have no idea). Just saying.

You know how an injury stops hurting when you stop thinking about it? Well that's how the Olympics are helping Fukushima.

Once had a naked woman walk into the male part of the onsen I was in - nobody complained though...

I've seen plenty of girls in the men's bath at the onsen. (Saying 'male part' sounds weird.)

This is a cisgender heterosexual man who wanted to peek at women in the bath, and thought he could wear a wig to disguise himself.

It's great that we had an eye-witness to add more depth to this article!

Never understand why such articles often don't include critical details.

1,000 people winning $1 million each would help more people than one person having enough to spend $1 million per year for 1000 years.

Gentle is the slope that leads to socialism...

only good point of the disaster is if you were given or bought an apartment in the prestigious Olympic Village, you probably just made $2million profit.

So what happened to all the people who had contracts to buy them after the Games? I assume they were forced to wait another year, but no compensation? Or perhaps there was a clause that allowed the organizers to keep the units another year if the Games were delayed..?

Posted in: High court denies gov't responsibility for Fukushima nuclear crisis See in context

I just woke up so forgive me if I'm a bit confused but...

The government's failure to instruct Tepco to take measures against tsunami "is not found to be significantly unreasonable," Presiding Judge Akira Adachi said in handing down the ruling.

If we remove the negatives in that comment, we get this:

The government's failure to instruct Tepco to take measures against tsunami "IS found to be significantly REASONABLE,"

So how does this equate to the court denying government responsibility? Is this a translation error? Somebody wake me up.

It sounds more like England is trying to create an image that Japan has given up. If they can convince enough countries that it's over, then it WILL be regardless of what Japan wants. Clever!

President pro tem Biden seems to have learned from his predecessor. After opposing President Trump’s efforts in fighting the pandemic, Mr. Biden is now embracing them.

I didn't vote for Biden, but I support him and wish him a successful term as POTUS. I hope that he will be fair and partial, and that he will do what is best for the citizens of the USA.

Prosecution and punishment to the inciters of the insurrection is the only way to bring peace to America.

Agreed. Violent rioters in any situation, from any background, for any reason need to be prosecuted.

Why did you go? You should be staying away from places like the sento. I haven't been to my local sento in months. It's been hard, because I love it there, but it's important to put safety first.

The ongoing snobbery here about the unemployed is nothing short of disgraceful.

It's terrible to make fun of someone's unemployment. The point that a woman living with her mother at that age killed her mother was unemployed came as no surprise. It has nothing to do with the terrible situation that countless others are in due to being unemployed.

Take your self-righteous snobbery elsewhere.

The horns have sounded.
