Posted in: Housing website to offer LGBT support in finding tolerant landlords See in context

this might be a issue in other countries, but LGBT-friendly landlords?? In Japan?? Totally IRRELEVANT, since most of japanese seems to be quiet and they usually don't disturb other neighbors, regardless of they sexual orientation. How about NON-JAPANESE friendly landlords? Never had any issue renting in Japan but I know it's a hassle for many people here.

Posted in: Japanese killjoys wage war on Valentine's 'conspiracy' See in context

I've spent a long time in Japan thinking the japanese-style Valentine's were only for women to give overpriced chocolates to the boys they like or to close friends.... until my wife rushed me to the nearest AEON to buy chocolates to ALL the 20 men in her company, getting the most expensive ones for her boss. You gotta do it, it's part of the culture, you can be seen as stingy if you don't do it.. seriously? All I can say is that japanese chocolate makers hijacked the date really big.

look at the pic. not a single lady... just japanese men being.... japanese men! This place is amazing, good food, nice cities, beautiful women, but the men........ ALWAYS some 10 to 20 years old behind the gorgeous women.. Look at those masked goofies...... no wonder japanese men have some bottled up anger against us for "taking their women away". Your women is just under your nose. Stop being pathetic.

Posted in: Japan took in 28 refugees in 2016, despite record applications See in context

this isnt necessarily a bad thing for japan. just take a look at what allowing large numbers of immigrants in has done for other countries. especially European countries. oftentimes immigrants form the hotbed for islamic fanaticism, something which japan has done a great job of keeping out. well done japan

This. I feel sorry for the European women. Now try to imagine what they would do to the naive japanese.

JT is a funny place to be. At one article, people cheer for the strict immigration system that keeps Japan so safe and peaceful. At another one, people vilify the "xenophobe" japanese for not letting muslims in. Just as I thought. Most of the people here are just sheep that follow the line of thinking of the quickest posters.

Posted in: 200 protest in Tokyo against APA Group over Nanjing Massacre book in hotels See in context

We surely live in very peaceful times, at least here in the Far East.... if you slap someone in the street you're going to jail, you will ruin your life, the slightest act of violence is totally unacceptable in today's age. Now, try to imagine the anger of the people from those ages that experienced total strangers coming to your village and all sudden started beating you, stealing your belongings, burning your house down, raping your wife, killing your kids in front of you, burying you alive, all these horrible things committed by total strangers for absolutely no reason. And then somebody comes to your face and say: well, that actually never really happened.... No apologies, fine, you're just a proud little country hoping so hard that everyone would just forget your past and be accepted as a civilized, international law-abiding country by your Western masters... but DENYING it?

Posted in: Survey finds big gap in Japanese train passengers who want to sit next to someone of opposite sex See in context

Percentage of respondents who’d want to sit next to someone of the opposite nationality: ● Japanese (child): 90% Foreigner (child): 100%

● Japanese (adult): 10% Foreigner (child): 100%

● Japanese (elder): 30% Foreigner (elder): 100%

too much hassle riding trains in this place, your face makes you already a bad-manners, unpredictable rider to the eyes of everyone around. Ride your motorcycle around this beautiful country and set yourself free.

what were the reasons this time? he didn't know how to make the baby stop crying? This is exactly one of the reasons I decided to stay with my japanese in-laws, at least until the first years, child-rearing is tougher than people think, and if you are all by yourself you can really have a hard time. I'm not defending the actions of this guy, but I kind of imagine the situation and desperation to the point of abusing his own son. You have to understand some people need help instead of punishment.

Posted in: Young people dying alone a growing concern See in context

This article reminded me about a part-time job I had many years ago: to remove the stench of death once or twice a month from houses/apartments throughout Japan . You see the person's whole life rotting along with food left uneaten, walls, books, clothes, thoughts, one or two days of us working in the place and it was like the person never existed. Dying alone is sad. I wish I can live long enough to pass away surrounded by my family or at the very least, in a Care Facility.

Awesome! I will definitely try it! Lipton is the only tea I drink in Japan, yeah, the traditional japanese macha, mugicha, etc. can be one of the secrets to a long life and all but they all taste horrible (those that actually have any taste).

Do you know what's worse in these cases in this country? If I was there I wouldn't control the urge to teach the guy a very good lesson, only to bring problems to myself, sometimes the justice system in Japan fails in terms of common-sense, creates an apathetic, coward nation, "根性無しの日本人”. No wonder everybody just stood watching, frozen.

Hey folks, had an idea here that won't get me in trouble. Everytime I walk by an APA Hotel I enter and say that I want to make a reservation. Start with the procedures and after 1 minute I ask "oh but WAIT. Isn't here where you have that book that denies the atrocities committed by japanese in China?" Wait for what they will have to say and leave :)

Sensato opened our eyes 2 months ago. Since that I'm doing what I can to spread the ugly side of "APA" Hotel. You can stay 3 nights in any big city for less than 10.000 using Airbnb folks (private apartment).

Can you imagine a big Hotel chain in Europe managed by an Holocaust denier??? it's just a shame as foreigners we are pretty much voiceless in this place, I wished I could protest without getting myself in trouble with the immigration (they don't bother to kick you out, they simply won't renew your visa). Fortunately news like these spread like fire on the chinese/korean forums, who knows if their website is off now because it was hacked? Hope the only guests you get from now are just a few, pathetic nationalistic old geezers.

regardless of how this "war" is conducted, I don't see any benefit to Japan at all, none of Japan's business in my opinion. It will only help to get some officials in that corrupt country a bit richer.

Posted in: South Korean cinema leads nominees at Asian Film Awards See in context

for obvious reasons... maybe japanese movies are only good for japanese people, any other asian or western could only see them as pure bad acting. You can be watching Godzilla, you will fall asleep at some point. It reminds me of a comment I saw here before:

Every movie seems to have the following scenes:

Guy: Stands zombie like with a vacant look on his face. He then starts shouting at the girl. he then starts crying to the girl. He then say's sorry and they make up.

Girl: Stands there zombie like with vacant look on her face. She then starts shouting at the guy. She then starts crying at the guy. She then say's sorry and they make up.

Little girl or boy: Is in hospital or has some incurable illness. Cries throughout the whole movie. may have a few cutie scenes just to show how cute they are.

The tough guy: Shouts and rolls his R's throughout the movie.

Everyone else: Just stands zombie like in the background of every scene. Contributing nothing to the storyline. But much like TV shows Japanese feel a certain comfort in numbers.
