The old boy network in Japan still knows how to let the good times roll.

Is there a site or source that accounts for where and how all this money is spent? The Japanese economy is smoking hot

Posted in: Typhoons spread Fukushima fallout, study warns See in context

Underground water and waterways are all connected. Seepage in Fukushima will make its way to Tokyo is it isn't already there but suppose it's just like cancer. Some people will be predisposed while others will go through life unaffected by the pollution. In that way you have to admire the Japanese way of keeping calm and carrying on especially since this is so much less under their control anymore.

Amazing food culture and chefs who treat their craft like a religion married to the fact Michelin is more a business than a guide.

That's right he's back to starring and promoting his movies. Thought he might be back to get a piece of all that money raining down in Tokyo for the state of California that he helped to bankrupt.

Just goes to show that Japan still gets so much right and that Samsung is supporting it is a smart move on their part. Tokyo is still one of the cosmopolitan and yes, beautiful cities in the world bar none!

Posted in: Nuclear watchdog urges TEPCO to take drastic action on Fukushima See in context

I know I am going to get lambasted for saying this but Japan's reputation abroad as well as the health and integrity of its country is at stake and I have a feeling that they will surprise even the most critical thinkers on this post and get this right. For years I've heard nothing but the demise of Japan and they get back up stronger each time.

Posted in: JAL eyes legal action against gov't over Haneda landing slots See in context

Of course JAL should sue and ask for a degree of transparency in the decision making process. I agree ANA deserves more but the government could have been a little less blatant about it.

Posted in: Kyocera founder explains his strategy to revive JAL See in context

How about cutting edge technology or maybe just inflight wifi for every passenger, a more aggressive loyalty program for business travelers, and greater employee diversity to reflect the world we live in.

Kyocera is a great company but it is no Apple or Samsung for that matter. The fundamentals married to Japanese cultural aesthetics are a given - ANA might even do that better and now is the time for a younger leader who can guide the company into a global leader.

Thank you Inamori-san for saving JAL from destruction but now it is time for someone who can take on the Cathays, Singapore Airlines, and Virgin Airlines (and ANAs which I personally prefer) of the world.

Posted in: Delta CEO calls for open skies in Japan See in context

I wonder if Mr. Anderson has ever flown business class on JAL to New York or for that matter any ANA, Asiana, or Singapore Airlines flight. I can imagine he (and his colleagues) must have been chuckling as they added up the cost these companies invest back in their product and attention to service detail.

I don't even think his vendors in Japan fly on Delta.? Keep your efforts to expand the commoditization of air travel concept to America please.

Silly people. Doesn't Mr. Lew have to say this to placate S Korea, Europe, and most of all American corporations in abject fear over what companies like Toyota will be able to inflict on them with their record stash. Mr. Lew was actually ambivalent and offered no such rebuke the likes that China gets. Me thinks the smart money is still being bet on an ever weaker yen.
