Posted in: Gov't to promote staggered holidays to curb congestion, virus spread See in context

Was really excited when I read the headlines! That is something that should have been implemented long ago, but then reading the details, you see their vacation is not a vacation at all! So the proposal is to spend your vacation working? What foolishness!

Posted in: Scientists grow 'model' human embryos from stem cells See in context

Every once in a while, scientists push the line a little further. This is one of those times. The line of what is ethically permissible keeps getting pushed back. But since it is just one small step at a time, no one gets upset or concerned. But the problem is the that the pushing of the line will never stop. What at one time was thought to be unthinkable will become permissible as little by little the line is pushed back so that it never seems like a big deal. Anyone showing concern is ridiculed and criticized and accused of hindering science. And they always have good motivations for why they push the line back again. https://crev.info/2020/06/research-on-embryonic-stem-cells-takes-dangerous-turns/

Posted in: Amazon stops police using its face-recognition tech for one year See in context

This is ridiculous! Facial recognition software helps police solve crimes! Are we against solving crimes? Do they think people have the right to loot, steal, & destroy without being held accountable? We need to support our police, not work against them. Of course, changes need to be made in how they treat suspects, especially suspects of color, but I for one, do not want to live in a society where the police are at a disadvantage and are hindered from doing their job.

Posted in: Comedian says pandemic will prod pretty girls into sex industry See in context

@0ldman_13 "why does everyone nowadays need to apologize for every single comment that is taken way out of context. Seriously, don't people have better things to agonize over than some harmless joke that may in fact have ring of truth about it?"

The comedian's comments AND this guy's comments show just how bad things are in this culture. First of all, this is NOT something to joke about. It should be something that is strongly protested and opposed - meaning the sex industry where young girls get involved to make a buck. AND, even worse, men, looking at women as nothing more than a piece of meat to meet their sexual fantasies. This view of women is the problem. Japan has a long ways to go in this area and until they make a lot of progress in the right direction, many women will suffer as a result. Think of the families who are betrayed by the men who go out and use young women! This benefits No One - only hurts family relationships and further weakens the family. Families are the building block of the nation and they are already struggling in this nation with overwork and poor relationships.

Perhaps the virus makes his comments/jokes even more inappropriate, but in reality, they are just as inappropriate even if we were not in the midst of this virus lockdown. Why? Because this is a moral issue that has absolutely nothing to do with the virus! Apologizing by saying anything about the virus belittles the apology, because it's not the virus that made the comments inappropriate in the first place.

Posted in: Australian politician calls for immediate review of all anime due to depictions of 'child abuse' See in context

It's about time someone brings this up on the world scale. It is a problem! It does influence the way men/boys look at women/girls. It does set a poor example and teach immoral things to kids. This article criticizes this politician for pointing out the problem or perhaps over-exaggerating it. I disagree. Of course, it is not all anime, but that is not the point. It's not a matter of what percentage of anime has this stuff in it. It's more a problem of how much of that stuff gets consumed by Japanese people, especially by impressionable youth. There might even only be one such anime, but if everyone reads it.... So the criticism is ill founded. Anyway, I'm glad there is some open talk about this and criticism of it from other countries. Maybe that will help to bring some regulation to it.

Posted in: Testosterone study finds differing disease links in men and women See in context

It's hard to deny the science! There really is a difference between men and women. Women cannot become male inside their bodies. They can shape their body to look like a male, but inside, they are still female. Same goes for men trying to become women. It's scientifically impossible.

Posted in: Caregiver arrested for beating girlfriend to death See in context

I just cannot understand this kind of crime! We are talking about someone's life here. If someone doesn't want to be with me, then I certainly would not want to force them to be with me. It would be miserable for both of us. But he actually KILLED her - beat her up and killed her. Just unfathomable to me.

Posted in: My scariest thing before I became a porn star was that people would judge me and also fear of what my mom would think. I love porn. I'm a little bit of a naughty girl. See in context

Porn enslaves men, devalues women, demeans sex, encourages immorality(& therefore contributes to the spread of STDs), often damages relationships, sometimes ruins marriages, greatly offends the God, the giver of sex, sometimes encourages acting out of what is seen, and encourages unhealthy lust/passions in everyone. It is not healthy for any person and cannot truly satisfy. There are right and wrong uses of everything and imo, porn is not a right use of the gift of sex. When we thumb our nose at the Creator's helpful guidance/commands concerning sex, we reap the consequences and learn the hard way. I have nothing against her personally, but I'm sorry that she chose to enter that profession.

Posted in: After miscarriage, women seek support, emotional outlet on Instagram See in context

Interesting! But WHY? If a foetus is only a clump of cells, what's the problem here? Why are these women so adversely affected by the discharge of a clump of cells?

OH! Maybe these women realize that they just lost a BABY!

I guess those who want to get pregnant see it as a baby and those who don't want to be pregnant, try hard to convince themselves it is nothing more than a clump of cells.

"Lighten up! It was only a clump of cells!"

Hmmm. Doesn't seem like a very encouraging thing to say to these women who are grieving over the loss of their baby, but basically, this is what the Pro-Choice folk have to say because they could never advocate for the right to kill an unborn baby, right?

Or could they? Nothing would surprise me any more. We keep sinking to new lows every week/month/year. Some have actually advocated for the right to kill newborns who survived abortion!

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?"

Seems like a very accurate statement even though these words were penned over 2500-2600 years ago! We humans have not improved at all. Where is the evolution? All I see is things getting worse! The heart is sinful and capable of real evil.

I guess for the sake of tourism, you have to write the article like that, but I think we all know this never happened and that it is just a cave like any other cave.

OK, if you say so, but I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a goofy outfit like that! I wonder how much that cost. Wonderful use of money. Seriously, this hollywood stuff is just over the top and a waste of time. It's not reality. Who cares?

I will say though that this guy, whoever he is, should be applauded for having courage to wear that goofy thing out in public!

OK, that's being a bit too judgmental. Even some couples in the US sleep in different rooms yet have a good marriage. Plus, this lady had dementia. Who knows whether she might have made noise at night. Criticizing them for only speaking to each other once a month when you know nothing of the circumstances is just being plain old judgmental.

Indigo, I think that is a bit harsh. I don't think it means they have no respect for Christianity. Actually, I think they have real respect for Christianity, but yes, it is too bad they miss the most important part of the holiday. But look at it this way. At least it provides a good chance for us to share the true meaning, hope, and joy of Christmas. So actually, I'm glad that they decorate for the holiday, even if they don't fully understand it. And, to be honest, I think they do a good job of decorating as well.

THere is no excuse for that kind of behavior. The man should be fired immediately and the whole employment environment at that company should be investigated. It's not like they didn't know this was happening. They allowed him to treat their employees like this. The employee should sue the company. Big changes need to be made there.

Posted in: Vandalism on rise at Japanese shrines as pro-Hong Kong protest prayer boards are defaced See in context

China is scary. They have long tentacles that are reaching even to Japan! They think they can bully the whole world and make them do their bidding. Often times, the lure of money through trade agreements enables them to do that. Many of us are suckers for money and will quickly sacrifice our own principles for a buck. It is true that the human heart is sinful.

Posted in: Court rules against divorced parents seeking access to children See in context

This is so sad. I've known numerous people with the same problem. It's like the Japanese gov't gives their citizens the right to kidnap their kids and prevent them from having any contact with the estranged parent who is often foreign. But in this case, many of the parents seem to be Japanese! Family relationships are often really screwed up here and it is the kids who suffer. This lady is probably telling her kids all kinds of lies about their father, but sometime, when the kids grow up and learn the real story, it might backfire in a dramatic way!

"The education board put the four teachers on leave starting Oct 1."

This should have been reported by other employees long before it got this far. I am glad however, that these teachers were placed on leave and are being disciplined for their harmful actions. Bullying is common among children, but there are a lot of adults who act like kids as well - and that is even more shameful!

As a Christian, I hate to jump on the Kanye bandwagon until we know this is really genuine and not a PR ploy like his wife is known to do. But whatever his motives, it seems like he has a positive message for today's youth. So many artists are out there promoting sex, booze, rebellion, drugs, etc. It's refreshing to see someone standing up for what is right and even admitting his own struggles in the past. That is not easy to do and it gives me some hope that his conversion might be genuine. Time will tell. Celebrities can often fall hard because they are so much in the public eye and there will be people out there who want him to fall so he will have to on guard. Anyway, I'm anxious to hear his new album.

Yeah, and like Al Gore the Climate Guy said, the arctic ice is gonna be totally gone by 2013. Wait! That was 4 years ago and look at the arctic ice today! Deeper and wider than it's been in a long time. Hmmm. Obviously our climate models are not very accurate!

The climate changes all the time. It changed before man affected it and it is still changing today. There were ice ages in the past and antarctica was forested at one point. What we don't know is how much man effects the climate. There are so many factors involved here and so many different greenhouse gases that it is really hard to know if we can ever really know these things.

Let's see! I wonder what could have motivated him to do such a thing!

OK, OK, granted there is a small outside chance it was some kind of a personal vendetta against the priest or something like that, but come on, terrorism is terrorism. It's not really all that hard to figure it out.

Posted in: Men more enthusiastic about moving in with girlfriends than vice-versa, survey says See in context

I think marriage gets a bum rap these days because we are mostly in it for our own benefit and do not really commit to each other like we should. I believe the Creator knew what He was doing when He established marriage as the norm. Unfortunately, many of us evaluate marriage using a "me first" type of standard. If we can see the immediate benefit, then we'll do it. But true love involves sacrifice and commitment and when both sides understand this and are willing to work on it, the value is there and outweighs the sacrifices made. We all have our moments which makes it difficult for our partner to put up with, but learning to forgive and work through issues leads to a deeper more stable marriage. Sure, you can avoid the commitment, use your partner for sex, save your money for yourself, and live for yourself and be relatively happy for a while, but we were made for relationship and marriage has always been the foundation of society. the further we stray from this, the worse off our society(and we personally) will be. Child rearing takes time, patience, commitment, love, sacrifice, and money, but I love it! It's worth every bit of whatever sacrifice is involved. "Me first" is not always the way to happiness.
