Remain did not expect to lose and Leave did not expect to win so no one had a plan B. What appears to have been the raison d'etre in the Leave leadership for all but Farage was to put up a good show and put pressure on Dodgy Dave to get a better deal.Unfortunately once they won its headless chicken time for all sides as they try to work out how to avoid triggering article 50.

Dogz All it means is that the whole situation will be dragged out even longer before its triggered. At the moment they are just trying to find some wriggle room but they have little to none as the vote was so clear it was stay or leave , leave won so it should have already been triggered.

It looks like a legal challenge is being mounted to stop article 50 being triggered without an act of parliment. https://www.theguardian.com/law/2016/jul/03/parliament-must-decide-whether-or-not-to-leave-the-eu-say-lawyers . Brexit the gift that keeps on giving.

I have followed him since his first appearance in the masters as an amateur when he finished tenth if l remember right so his usual last round strong finish should be enough to see him home.

Any other line of work if you had bitten a colleague on three seperate occasions then l suspect that you would have been lokking at slightly more than 4 months suspension. Still its been dealt with I just wish the uruguayans would let it go after all these things happen its over so move on .

A life time ban seems reasonable as he is a serial offender.

Should have been a free kick to croatia and a yellow card for fred for diving, although not his worst descision of the night that was the yellow to neymar instead of a red for elbowing his opponent in the throat. I mean he looked over to make sure where he was before doing it for gods sake .

@ scrote the 10% betting tax was one levied by the bookies to cover the 9% tax that they were charged by customs and excise on everything that went through the tills . It was removed once a new deal was struck with the levy based on them paying tax on the profits only .

Jimizo dont worry chelski have already rolled over for them to give them the league. @ usinjapan Whilst l am happy that we won and won easily l am sad that this is the first time this season that certain members of the squad could be bothered making the effort .

It appears that the announcement on Mr Moyes departure will be made tomorrow according to the press over here.More telling is the bookies pulling his price to be replaced in to 1/10.

Well that result just about sinks Moyes, ironic that it should be Everton. The search for the new manager has started already.

Its perfect for both countries. For Cameron it helps give the impression that the reduced sized armed services are still up to snuff and for Fernandez de kirchner it takes the voters minds off the tanking economy plus it allows them both to claim that they have the creeping penguin menace under control.

Well as the world cup does not need to be held in summer then shift the dates and it gives them another six months to complete the building work.

I would not take bets on that as it would be a disaster for the economy and business plus the white house has already said that they would prefer the uk to remain in the centre of a strong but if the uk wishes to leave thats their choice but they will not renegotiate any trade treaties they have with europe to include the uk.

Posted in: British cabinet to meet in Scotland amid independence fears See in context

I find it absolutely amazing how people can delude themselves .Having been told very clearly there will be no currency union and that membership to the EU will take much longer and be much harder to achieve than the SNP is making out Mr Salmond still persists in claiming that of course after a yes vote they will be able to enter in meaningful and constructive dialog with westminster. The same westminster that has ruined the steel and shipbuilding industries in Scotland the same westminster that introduced the poll tax the same westminster that is run for the benefit of the city of london and the south east . They really dont give a monkeys toss about the north of England and they hold Scotland in even less esteem so good luck with the constructive and meaningful talks about the Scottish future after independence. All the power as now will remain firmly in the hands of westminster and they will allow or not allow as they see fit with nothing that can be done by an independent Scotland .

Posted in: British cabinet to meet in Scotland amid independence fears See in context

The issue of Scottish independence has nothing to do with us English as it is an internal scottish affair. In the event of a yes vote then it will be westminster that decides on the issue of currency union, the snp will have no input into this what so ever what ever Alex Salmond may say.Personally I wish them all the luck in the world as an independent scotland would be interesting although it would have a little of the look of the darien scheme about it again .

Posted in: David Bowie urges Scotland to stay in UK ahead of referendum See in context

The independence issue is very interesting from the other side of the border watching the yes campaign completely ignore the reality of the situationif it actually succeeds in getting a yes vote . They have already been told there will be no currency union so they will need to have their own sorted out also as has been pointed out it may take a lot longer for them to be able to join the EU if at all than they are being led to believe . And just for the record the vote is a purely scottish affair and l wish them good luck with it, as an english it has nothing to do with us.

Posted in: More Moyes misery as Man United held by Fulham See in context

It was a poor result and l must admit l am looking forward to Arsenal on wednesday with some trepidation .What does concern me is after Moyes has identified the problem of an aging squad why has he failed to do anything about it in the last two transfer windows .And in answer to those calling for the head of Moyes on a silver platter who would you replace him with and how would they do any better with the team he inherited ,like it or not we will just have to put up with a transitional period and hope and pray that it is not too long before things improve .

global ,there is not that much to worry about as most of the decisions made by the british government are decided by the big international companies and therefore are all profit related we no longer have much desire to re-establish our world empire . Its all about the emerging markets and where the greatest profits can be made .

Posted in: Sunderland stun United in League Cup semifinal See in context

It was a very poor performance by the team that further highlighted the need to invest in better players and off load most of the dead wood that they have . Moyes has a six year contract and so should be safe till the end of next season as the glazers would not be willing to off load him and shell out the comp .Moyes is a good manager and should be given the chance to prove whether he is a top flight one (or not ). And hopefully the season cannot get much worse, we are l think just about safe from relegation so thats some thing to be grateful for .

@ usinjapan I agree and also think that the debacle at the summer transfer widow is still being felt plus l still think he should have retained some of fergies back room staff for 12 months to show his own staff the ropes. As for the rest of the season well l think a top 4 position (4th) is still possible just but not much more l am afraid but such is life .

The true fans will not and as for the glory hunters if they depart so what its no loss .We may have lost but at least they played very well in the first half and were all over chelski for long periods so there is some small comfort to be derived from todays match .

Posted in: Chelsea, United pick up wins in Premier League See in context

playing Kagawa in the right position occasionally would be a step in the right direction for Mr Moyes and then replacing some of the dead wood with better playerswould help , then who knows we might actually start looking like we can play foot ball again. Yes we won yesterday but when we are losing we are not even making a game of it as a long time supporter l am used to us losing matches but it does really gall when we are not even competing at times .
