The government, in their own time, or likely 2024 are looking for all the yen stored at home. Either to keep it safe or conveniently at hand. It also means the government doesn’t get its hands on the inheritance.
Changing the notes, probably making existing notes illegal tender will bring out all of this hidden potential tax.

Whether I trust government numbers or not. These are the numbers we get. If severe hospitalised patients are down 8 let’s hope it stays in the same direction. Maybe then the government will allow us to open bars/ restaurants etc.

EU residents can’t travel to Japan, while residents of Japan if fully vaccinated could freely enter some EU countries. Tell me if I am wrong about JP/ EU agreement. It’s more likely that EU are reacting to the unfairness or ambiguity in the agreement. Can’t blame the EU for their decision.

They need to allow all bars and restaurants to open now, with precautions.
Use subsidy money to focus on vaccinations. Announcing now, that they may allow bars etc to open in 2 or 3 months is ridiculous even for the inept government.

Yeah, Japan and it’s master (Suga) are defeating this virus. We really need to be keeping our eye on the severe cases though. I am so optimistic that things start going back to some kind of normal.

So it would seem that Japan is maybe not the best country to host the Olympics. It’s typhoon season, with the unpredictable nature they bring. The heat and humidity that the athletes have already started complaining about. Today the humidity is only about 50%, it could get much worse. What a shame that many people were duped with the lies.
