There is also masses of plastic floating in our oceans. Hmmm, I think I would rather have the pumice.

Posted in: Japan issues new ¥500 coins for 1st time in 21 years See in context

The government, in their own time, or likely 2024 are looking for all the yen stored at home. Either to keep it safe or conveniently at hand. It also means the government doesn’t get its hands on the inheritance.

Changing the notes, probably making existing notes illegal tender will bring out all of this hidden potential tax.

He managed to avoid the long lectures each time one renews their licence.

Posted in: Suga tells U.N. Olympics were symbol of global unity See in context

Personally I don’t see the world as a ‘united world’ nor has Suga and the Olympics brought it any closer to being unified. What a blithering idiot Suga is.

She’s gonna get a bit of time for this. Lol

Posted in: Tokyo reports 1,242 coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 8,892 See in context

Whether I trust government numbers or not. These are the numbers we get. If severe hospitalised patients are down 8 let’s hope it stays in the same direction. Maybe then the government will allow us to open bars/ restaurants etc.

Posted in: EU reinstates travel ban from Japan due to surge in coronavirus cases See in context

EU residents can’t travel to Japan, while residents of Japan if fully vaccinated could freely enter some EU countries. Tell me if I am wrong about JP/ EU agreement. It’s more likely that EU are reacting to the unfairness or ambiguity in the agreement. Can’t blame the EU for their decision.

Timing will be perfect for the government to open up he bars and restaurants before the election.

Posted in: Gov't plans lifting alcohol ban even under state of emergency See in context

They need to allow all bars and restaurants to open now, with precautions.

Use subsidy money to focus on vaccinations. Announcing now, that they may allow bars etc to open in 2 or 3 months is ridiculous even for the inept government.

This magic money should be spent on vaccinations and acceptance. Get our economy open subsidised economy’s have never worked.

Good riddance you inept idiot.

I wonder if the Olympics did in fact have anything directly linked to the increase.

Posted in: Author Murakami criticizes Suga over pandemic measures See in context

Suga’s mistake was allowing the olympics to go ahead. For some reason the games seem more important than the welfare of the country and it’s citizens

Posted in: Tokyo reports 4,227 coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 24,200 See in context

Yeah, Japan and it’s master (Suga) are defeating this virus. We really need to be keeping our eye on the severe cases though. I am so optimistic that things start going back to some kind of normal.

With these numbers, surely they can stop the SOE’s.

I wonder if there are, and, how many Japanese variants that the government have kept quiet about. I would also question the ability of and the quality of testing for variants in Japan.

What kind of ROI can I expect year on year. Anyone can say they are the best. Investing in real estate out of Japan would probably give a better return. Please respond.

Posted in: Vietnam to reduce quarantine for fully vaccinated travelers See in context

Any quarantine is likely going to stop tourists travelling. 14 days or 7 days will make no real difference. I guess it’s a step in the right direction.

Posted in: Food delivery service’s payment processing error allows some people to eat for free…for 3 years See in context

ROFL. The company should not expect anything back from their customers.

They screwed up. They didn’t test the software and probably tried to cut corners.

The responsibility is on them.

Posted in: Typhoon heads for eastern Japan; Olympic rowing events rescheduled See in context

So it would seem that Japan is maybe not the best country to host the Olympics. It’s typhoon season, with the unpredictable nature they bring. The heat and humidity that the athletes have already started complaining about. Today the humidity is only about 50%, it could get much worse. What a shame that many people were duped with the lies.

Great. The end of this long dark tunnel is in sight. This drop in numbers almost seems magical.

Posted in: Daily tests, cardboard beds: 24 hours at Tokyo's Olympic Village See in context

Apparently they could not control these athletes at the airport when the arrived. Many went walkabout while waiting to get processed.

These Olympics are a calamity. I’m sure Suga and his mates will try and spin it, somehow.

Posted in: VIPs allowed at Olympic opening ceremony, but no fans: report See in context

As these visitors are obviously not check properly on entering the country. I am sure the TOC said they would check everyone in to make sure Japan stayed safe.

I also doubt they will check people into the venues.

Posted in: Why are Olympics going on despite public opposition, medical warnings? See in context

Suga could have, and probably should have closed the borders. It would have forced the IOC to cancel the games if the athletes cannot attend.

Obviously the prosecutor has never experienced watching some die with Lou Gehrig's disease. Yes, I understand that euthanasia is against the law. But actually these doctors were doing the best for the patient. I hope nobody is put in the position to watch this disease take someone’s life.

Is anyone else getting a Déjà vu moment?

JP government, please stop the games!!!
