Posted in: Japan to lift COVID nonresident foreigner entry ban for 106 nations; tourists still barred See in context

So Japanese people can come to my country for a holiday, go wherever they like and explore

For the 2687974 times since covid started on JT:

Ask the question to your government about your country borders being open like a western movie saloon.

J-government CANNOT legally ban entry of it's own citizens (unlike OZ...) but can do that to non-citizens (aka foreigners).

There is no reciprocity in such situations. Just because your country is being lax doesn't mean all countries should follow it's policy. Sovereignty rings a bell?

Just came back from Wikipedia (great website BTW) and I was looking at maps, world maps. I tried to find something logical on JT patrons reactions but no matter how hard I try, I fail. I mean, you are in Ukraine, you WALK with your FEET, and bang you are you are in Poland, try another direction and bang you are in Romania, it also works with several countries surrounding Ukraine. Even better: if you reach Poland, there are free buses to Germany, France and several EU countries but none of them take you to Japan. Weird huh? Really weird!

Then I looked at maps and find there was 8200 kms distance between Ukraine and Japan. OMG! Ukraine is in Europe! I started thinking how could Japan score like Poland? I mean everyone here is comparing to Poland. So basically we need 4032 flights on Boeing 787 Dreamliner to make 1 million Ukranian come to Japan. 4032 flights. Brillant huh? Let's say we use 1 plane that goes and come to Ukraine everyday. We could that in just 11 YEARS. Crazy huh?

All on Japanese tax payers.

Why only 30 people ?

I agree. I noticed that Hayashi travelled to Poland using the Starship Enterprise spaceship, as a Trekkie I perfectly know it has a capacity of 850 passengers and can travel 8,323 times light speed. It could bring million of Ukrainian in a single day!

Clearly another proof of unwillingness from the Japanese.

Long time ago, weed was legal in Japan

Then white men came...

They said "this is not good for you"

They banned it

Then suddenly in white men home, weed became good...

After that, white men kept coming to Japan

Always asking about "why ban?"

Now white men want Japan to change again

They want Japan to unban it

Funny how people here have such a selective amnesia. When it comes to Japanese being prosecuted for market manipulation everybody here completely forgot Takafumi Horie aka Horiemon former boss of Livedoor. The big boss was arrested and charged with securities fraud in 2006, sentenced to imprisonment of 2 years and 6 months and was released on parole in March 2013 after 21 months behind bars.

Please try harder guys.

Much of Japan outside this area is under-populated. In Shikoku there is a village populated by dolls representing former residents.

Do you know why young Japanese left those places? No jobs genius...! No jobs, nothing. OK, I see let them live on Japanese welfare....

You Johnny foreigner? No foreign community, no foreign food stores, no English language and totally closed minds, unwelcoming population. I lived for several months with in-laws in the middle of nowhere. I found people quite hostile and very wary.

Basically what's the plan? Repopulate such place by creating new colonies of foreigners and get rid of the natives?

Great, another "stable genius". As soon as he became president, he tore up the agreement (number 3 or 4 maybe 5) that had been signed between the 2 countries and now when he's about to leave, he's suggesting "South Korea, Japan should pursue cooperation". Yeah, you did great, right?

When Japan accepts even a thousands refugees in a given year wake me up...

Why do you refuse to understand? There is no space FGS! Contrary to popular belief among JT users, Japan is not the size of Canada or Australia and yet every year, right here on JT, they make fun of Japanese people at Tokyo Summerland aquatic amusement park when it's summer and no one can see the water on the classic "Picture of the day".

Japanese doesn't need more people, it's overcrowded, people are living in cramped apartment/ tiny homes. Why? 126 millions people stuck on 3 shaky rocks.

Posted in: Japan to help U.S., EU aid refugees after Russia's invasion of Ukraine See in context

Yeah? So how many refugees will Japan accept?

Several million! Japan is smaller than California and has 126 million inhabitants. Those suggesting to bring million more here are usually the very same people who keep whining about overcrowded trains, tiny apartments etc..

Yeah come here refugees, no waiting lists for day-care centers and plenty of space in cities! More fun when the Big One hits.

do you know that the Japanese constitution is written by a foreigner?

With such immature argument the Emperor could be a Pakistani citizen and the prime minister a US citizen. Hey you know what? Let's throw all Japanese people into reservations like First Nations.

tell me why a Japanese can enter in japan and not a foreigner under a so call pandemic.

We already explained you, the Constitution does allow the government to ban entry of Japanese citizens. Do you understand that every country makes a difference between citizens and foreigners?

You are a foreigner. I am a foreigner. We are not Japanese. I accept that. You and your friends won't rule the place. Deal with it or stay in White Nations. Bold typing is aggressive you know...

Covid has made Japan show its true colors and boy are those colors ugly.

It just reminds me another one:

Fingerprinting has made Japan show its true colors and boy are those colors ugly.

Too funny that those self-proclaimed experts on JT predicted that after Japan started fingerprinting travellers in 2007 no one would ever visit such nasty country. Fail!

Reading all those testimonials gives me the feeling that entitlement is even more contagious than covid. All those westerners just act and think like colonists trying to force their way into the country and that Japan owe them something.

It's in the news just above:

Looking at Japan and the US in particular.

You know there are people out there whose job it is to study and evaluate corruption. Transparency International is one of them. According to their 2020 report:

Japan is ranked 19

USA is ranked 25

South Korea is ranked 33

NZ/Denmark are ranked 1

The higher the better. It seems SK is just as bad as we see it here, in this particular case.

Always the same comments linking taxes and having a voice. When you drive on the highway, you pay toll but it doesn't make you shareholder of the motorway operator...

Racism? Ridiculous. My Japanese wife is married to a foreigner (me) and yet she's opposed to me voting in Japan. Why? She couldn't vote in any French elections. I don't blame her. Same apply to those married to US, UK, Canadian, OZ citizens...

Most of foreigners in Japan are Asians. With the exception of South Korea none of other Asian countries allow foreigners to vote. Do Japanese people want to see Chinese, Thai or Vietnamese vote in Japan while Japanese have no such right in those countries. Brazilians? Only citizens from Portugal are allowed to vote in Brazil, why the hell would Brazilians be allowed to vote here? China? elections don't even exist...

As a tax payer in Japan I must admit I would be a terrible hypocrite to advocate permanent residents to vote here while perfectly knowing such thing is absolutely not allowed back in France.

If Japan would allow permanent residents to vote based on reciprocity most you here would still cry foul because it would probably exclude most of you, right?

I hope Japanese Government wills not give concession to expansion of Islam in Japan.

Actually the Saudi Government is investing massively on Japanese naivety. They helped in the purchasing a property and refurbishing of a three-story building that became the first mosque run by Japanese for Japanese.

http://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/AJ201609150067.html

Years ago, the Saudi Government purchased a huge land in Tokyo and built the Arabic Islamic Institute, whose mission is to teach arabic (but we all know they have their own agenda). It is a huge building with plenty of men (no women....) dressed like in Saudi Arabia. Visitors, women or men are separeted and don't use the same exit...It is a really huge place for Tokyo, cost a lot of money for sure, they are expecting something in return....

http://www.aii-t.org/

It is depressing.

The Saudi Embassy is very very active here and has eyes on a lot of things. Everytime the King comes for a visit in Japan, he or the Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir pays a visit to the Arabic Islamic Institute to check how is the business.

The hypocrisy here is that they accept Western investments in Saudi Arabia only in oil industry , they are very protectionists otherwise. I hope the Japanese Government will keep an eye on their activism in Japan
