A huge amount of people are in Shinjuku protesting... there have been countless protests since I have been in Japan but I don't remember anything on this scale before.
Have Japanese people finally found something to unite them in anger?

The cousins left the bathroom for a moment and when they returned, the child was floating unconscious in the tub
Sounds suspicious to me... did they expect him to swim or something?

In fact, if you look here you can clearly see most European countries have reactors under construction, planned or proposed. This article is completely pointless

Is the fact the author keeps referencing Switzerland and Germany due to the fact they are the only 2 that are phasing out nuclear technology? I can't say 100%, but I guess the "other nations" exist only in the mind of the author - anyone have information to show otherwise?
Seems to me like the facts have been written to fit the story here, not the other way around... Plenty of European countries still use (and have plans to expand their use of) nuclear power so the headline and theme is completely wrong.

TEPCO have, as you have, been exposed right down the line as miscreants.
This article simply suggests they were naive and not properly policed. I agree that they allowed this situation to unfold due to their own stupidity, but stop overreacting.

I have no problem with people exercising their right to protest.... but do they really need to blow whistles and bang drums? That is just annoying and doesn't really serve any purpose to their cause.

Great American comedies such as "Animal House", or "Caddy Shack", do not translate well at all
Comedies are always tough sells internationally as cultural references and differences can really change things from funny to "wtf?" in a different culture. Doesn't even need to be language based - just look at some of the UK/US differences in comedy!

I've always found it funny how "I/me/we/us" gets translated into "it" with machine translation.
It doesn't get mistranslated - the subject is usually cut in Japanese and computer programs just add "it" because something needs to be there.

I still don't understand why they built the nuclear plant like 2 meters from the ocean
Sea water is used to make the steam that powers the turbines. It's also used to keep the whole thing cool. You need a LOT of water for a BWR and that's why anywhere you look in the world, they are on the shore.
