Posted in: Some medical experts unconvinced about holding Tokyo Olympics See in context

Why would ANY medical experts be convinced that holding the Olympics is a great idea?

From a medical perspective, how could this ever possibly be a good thing? Or are most of them just afraid to challenge the overlords.

Come on people, everybody knows it has nothing to do with a stupid app.

NTT is losing profitability but the executives need their bónuses. It's just a means of sustaining a poor, poor company with taxpayer money.

In Japan everybody works for everybody.

Posted in: Tokyo reports 303 coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 1,457 See in context

Here's a little story from the real world. Two employees at my company tested positive this week. However the public health center determined that there were no close contacts, so no one else were allowed to be tested in this instance. Even though the two had been in the office among other people.

All contact tracing and disinfection procedures now being done without support or guidance from the health authorities.

Take care, everyone.

Posted in: Japan decides not to procure insulin syringes for COVID-19 vaccinations See in context

Surely someone must have whispered into Kono's ear that using insulin syringes for vaccines is impractical, improper, and potentially dangerous medical practice.

The "we don't want to steal syringes from diabetes patients" is a poor argument given the magnitude of novel treatment options within diabetes therapy other than the old fashioned syringe and vial option.

But it's Japan, and Kono would never admit that at a press conference.

Posted in: Japan to allow use of insulin syringes for COVID-19 vaccines See in context

It is easy to tell that real medical experts are not invited to the discussions.

Insulin syringes means subcutaneous injection.

Insulin syringes nowadays are very short.

All vaccines (not just covid) should be administered intramuscularly.

Really terrible idea destined to fail. Try again, Kono

Fukushima is one of the largest prefectures in Japan. The distance east to west is similar to the distance from the plant to southern Iwate or to northern Saitama. Radiation does not stop at the border.

The people need to be supported.

And yes the government is corrupt and awful.

"Obviously you are not reading the Asahi or Mainichi, which are extremely critical of the government. "

I wouldn't say "extremely", but Asahi definitely more critical than the nation's LDP propaganda mouth piece also known as NHK. Perhaps that is why Suga routinely refuses to answer questions from Asahi during press conferences

Michael MachidaToday  02:35 pm JST

I am not taking the vaccine. Its not your choice if I take the vaccine. I do not trust the vaccine. Easy.

Sure it's your choice!

Just be informed, that like it or not, due to Covid most countries are already in the planning of "vaccine" or immunization passports:

https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/news/covid-19-vaccine-set-to-become-worlds-most-powerful-passport-in-2021/

Without it, you will be barred from travel, tourism, access to events and entertainment in the future. Have fun!

Posted in: WHO team visits Wuhan research lab at center of speculation See in context

Any investigation by WHO has zero credibility when it comes to Covid19. They have worked against the interests of most of their members by refusing to declare a pandemic until it was far too late (mid March). On the other hand, they have done a very good and proactive job of praising China since day 1.

Also, China would not allow such an investigation if the outcome wasn't already known in advance.

That is 100 % sure.

Posted in: Tokyo reports 393 coronavirus cases; nationwide tally 1,792 See in context

I'd like to see some actual experts on infectious diseases or epidemics interviewed and ascertain the reason for such a massive drop. They should be able to answer if this is even realistic? But I guess nobody, experts and media alike, wants to get in bad standing for suggesting the "wrong" thing. "Wrong" meaning anything that is not the LDP narrative.

Posted in: Kono denies reports of mass vaccine roll-out for general public in May See in context

The vaccine rollout program...

This is Japan's chance to demonstrate to the rest of the world how Japan has mastered the art of unnecessarily overcomplicating and delaying everything.

Chances are, if we're optimistic, most people will not get the vaccine until at least Q4 2021 or Q1 2022. You just watch.

I agree with your prediction. Q4 2021 for foreigners would have me positively surprised lol

Posted in: Kono denies reports of mass vaccine roll-out for general public in May See in context

Who was in charge of vaccinations before Kono? Nobody you say? Did they just start "considering" it? Someone enlighten me.

The comment from Kato that they will decide the vaccination schedule after approval is a stone-age approach to project management. A garbage statement from the former Health minister!

The appointment of Kono for this task is Suga's attempt at eliminating his biggest rival for the next election given his ultra poor ratings. They are already behind every other country with the roll out and in Japan it is an incredibly difficult task to coordinate between the ministries, prefectural and local governments and Suga knows it. Just look at the 100k yen failure. If Kono somehow manages to exceed expectations, Suga will take credit. In any case, Suga is using Kono for his own advancement. Well played, Suga...

Posted in: Japan eyes use of robots to boost COVID-19 testing See in context

It's a fallacy. Efficiency is not going to increase since the robot must be operated by staff anyway.

It will have the opposite effect and become a process bottleneck, but it's okay because taxpayers love it when their hard earned money is wasted on pointless initiatives...

Posted in: Japan finds COVID-19 variant in 3 people with no record of travel to UK See in context

Japan has so far detected 45 cases of new variants of the virus that were first spotted in Britain, South Africa and Brazil, he said.

I remember reading an article recently where experts in my home country estimated that the new strain from Britain will be "outconquering" the original strain there almost completely by mid February. There is almost no information about how it is spreading here in Japan though...
