The new gmail is great, much better looking. I can't believe some of the other old-fashioned mail services people use.

Posted in: Japan intervenes in currency market to weaken yen See in context

Can someone explain to me why the yen being high is a bad thing? I'm not too familiar with the matter.

Makes profits go down for J-companies. Why is that? Well, Americans buy a bulk of the Japanese exports, cars, electronics, etc. When A Sony TV is sold, it hinges on exchange rates. If the USD/JPY rate is up to 107, it's cheaper for Americans to buy it, hence more sales. When the rate is 75, less can afford it..

Worthy in my opinion. Many different great restaurants with different cuisines. Not just sushi or soba. My favorites are the ones with laid back, peaceful atmospheres and vibe.

iOS 5 is amazing so far. I will holdoff upgrading from 4 to 4S though. Siri is not enough.

Better get with the times, Japan. Better security is needed. I was hit by the Sony Playstation hackers and I still don't feel satisfied with the "package" setup for the victims.

There needs to be more done about bullies, in all schools. Setup a stricter set of rules for bullies, counseling for victims, etc. I wish I had the money to start an organization for bully awareness.

R.I.P. to this young man. He was failed by his surroundings.

Because of these people going in and out of the reactors, how could they track health related problems from the workers? There could be deaths by now, how would they know? Do they even track those folks? Heck, there could be corpses inside the reactors as we speak...

Posted in: Steve Jobs resigns as Apple CEO See in context

Was extremely sad to hear this news earlier. Have worked for Apple and been using macs since I was a pup, he's always been an inspiration. 99% of the CEOs of these Fortune 500 companies could leave and no one would care, but Jobs... is Apple. Cannot wait to read the autobiography. I hope his health isn't as bad as feared.

Posted in: In what technological or scientific fields is Japan still ahead of the rest of the world? See in context

I wish I could say video games, but they've been underwhelming as of late. I would say gourmet dining, as Tokyo has the most Michelin stars of any city in the world. Modern city, for sure, as no city in the world has as much modern advancements as Tokyo. Toilets, already been said. And lastly, transportation/subway systems. Surprised no one else said that.
