@Raw Beer--if Trump is a man of the people, he should tell his well-wishers that there is a half hour buffet of fast food and booze at Mar-a-lago. Then he could witness these schlub supporters rioting first hand.

Trump must not have been much of a fan if he did not know how those guys worked as a unit. When they were backed by the Count Basie band, Sinatra and Dean Martin were about the only white guys in the show.

In some form--is this a guessing game? Animal, mineral, vegetable?

The music as he left was odd. I know Trump and his mentor Roy Cohn were always out at the NYC clubs like Studio 54, but there are better disco era tunes than YMCA. Then the old Sinatra song My Way. For my money, Sammy Davis Jr was the most talented of the Rat Pack. He would sometimes go into percussion/ vocals only medleys that are still amazing to watch today. A Long Way From St. Louis would have been my pick to ride off to.

@NOM--every state has a National Guard that the 50 governors can call into action. The D.C. NG are more a federalized force, so there must be various people at the top of the federal chain of command who could give orders. If P and VP were held hostage, the House leader Pelosi could deploy the D.C. NG, correct?

@Fuzzy--Odd thing about kohaku is that some of the less dire acts start to grow on you. I have been ignoring Arashi for their whole career but I thought their medley with Kaito, Happiness etc. was pretty great, though maybe the pathos of the Tohoku rebuilding montage hooked me in? The Greeeen hologram was another surprise. But even though I found the male groups better this time, they were outvoted 2-1 for the ladies. So much for my taste in J pop!

Q 〓 Quinn, a common enough name.

Reading a little about a family conflict that seems to be a factor. He profitably gained a house from his brother who died two years and was sued about that by their mother who must be in her 80s. Not a happy holiday type of family.

To help the doubtful Wolfpacks and WilliBs on here, it works like this:

Higher summer temps made the current ocean temps around Japan one to two degrees higher, leading to more humidity that changes into snow when it hits an arctic cold front. Still unclear on the process?

@T-E, that would have been cool but managers must be adhering to unwritten rules about not making rivals look awful when ahead by as much as the Hawks are in this series. Check the deep bow by the Hawks manager Kudo to the older skipper Hara before game one--manners carefully being followed. They are all working for the same outfit ultimately and are not going to show each other up.

Eh, with no yokozuna that was still a really fun and interesting basho. There were a couple of matches decided by rare once-in-a-generation moves. Resurgent Terunofuji pushing Takakeisho to a playoff was great drama, and the emotions flashing on the latters gasping mug after he clinched his first title as Ozeki. Even teensy Enho leaping around enough to win sometimes is athletic joy in action.

I do not read SoraNews except on JT, so I totally missed the Metallica comment in Abe's NYSE speech about Abenomics seven years ago. It probably came up in a Nikkan Sports interview because Abe heard Enter Sandman while viewing Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera's retirement game three days earlier. That is an odd bit of Abe trivia in any case.

@sal--I usually defend Japanese players in MLB, but Tsutsugo has pretty much disappeared this offseason. Not enough offense for the manager to use him full time. Given that he is questionable to play much in the WS, I expect the games will stay on the same Broadast Satellite/BS channels 1 or 2 that show all the other overseas baseball games.

In the Michigan Kidnapper Militia case, much like the Bundy occupation in Oregon, a contributing problem was a rogue sheriff helping to justify their kook plans. One of Michigans 80 some sheriffs, Dar Leaf, has been quoted that it is alright to make a citizens arrest on people commiting a felony. The militia yokels hear that and it pushes them closer to the brink. Fortunately the sane sheriffs have stepped in to say you should never attempt a citizens arrest of politicians who have their own police guard detail.

Rock that is tame enough to be played on radio in country dominant areas? Still a stretch to label them that way.

Real country rock was edgier fare by Gram Parsons with Flying Burrito Bros and Byrds, Neil Young, the Band, Poco, later another wave with Uncle Tupelo and the Jayhawks etc.

I would stick Fleetwood Mac in the LA laid back rock category with people like the Eagles, Jackson Brown and Joni Mitchell.

@Black, statues are just artistic symbols of old political ideology. Easy to make new ones if they are needed. Two or two hundred being damaged is still not in the same league as fatal shootings by the CO rancher/guard or other screw ups like Kyle Rittenhouse.

Eh, I am going with the Denver Post and police over wild eyed rumors. It appears that neither person in this tragedy was strongly involved in any political movement. The illegally unlicensed guard with a ranching and dog breeding background, and the tattooed Navy vet victim who made cowboy hats for a living. A case of redneck on redneck violence most likely. What is the cliche about playing stupid games?

I think it is valid to compare how a player relates to different coaches. Naomi had a lawsuit stemming from one of her early coaches claiming a share of her lifetime earnings. If all her coaches were like that she would be broke. So it made sense for her dad to do some interim stints.

The German coach who got her to number 1 knew a lot from working with Serena Williams and that is who Naomi beat to clinch the US Open. Her current coach used to work with Azarenka and wah-lah look who Naomi beat for the title. Maybe she gets more insider tips than her dad would have access to.

So a compelling opponent no matter what number she is ranked in 2020.
