I think you know that too, you just wanted an excuse to disparage Mr. Biden with ad hominem.
Definitely not. I’m just giving a realistic assessment. I say again, Biden will not go to war with China over Taiwan.

El Rata, I have to agree. People are delusional if they think they can envision Japan going to war with China over Taiwan. It simply won’t happen.
The Biden administration would find some reason to stay out of that conflict too, you can bank on that.

Baldwin did nothing wrong. The folks responsible for ensuring their were no live rounds in the gun before it was handed to him are to blame.
Baldwin saw with his own eyes that safety procedures were not being followed. And on top of that there had been three accidental discharges of firearms, with bullets flying, on the set in the days prior to him shooting those two people. What kind of idiot, with all the previous screw-ups, would trust that a gun handed to him on that film set from hell was safe, and then point it at people and pull the trigger with no thought of checking for himself?
And still you believe Baldwin is blameless. That takes some stretch of “logic”.

"It's my hope that this tragedy prompts the industry to re-evaluate its values and practices to ensure no one is harmed through the creative process again,"
What a self-serving, cynical hypocrite. The industry’s values and practices in regards to gun safety on film sets are exemplary as shown by its track record, and need no “re-evaluating”.
What does need investigation is the repeated flouting of those values and practices and the shocking carelessness of those involved, from Alec Baldwin on down during the production of the Baldwin film.

Posted in: Alec Baldwin says fatal shooting was 'one in a trillion': TMZ See in context
browny1, as Ray Liotta and other actors have pointed out, long-established practice is that after a series of stringent safety checks the gun is finally presented to the actor open and the condition of the gun and what it contain by way of “ammunition” is explained. A light is shone through the barrel to show there are no blockages or objects lodged there, the person/people the gun will be fired at also inspect the weapon as does the director and anyone else on the set who desires to.
Baldwin, in his long career, has experienced this many times. He knows what is correct procedure. That someone simply yelled “cold gun” and handed Baldwin a weapon from a tray which he then pointed at someone and fired staggers the imagination.
It’s no fluke that gun accidents on movie sets are so very rare. They only occur when there has been gross, criminal negligence.

Can you imagine the armour / person whose sole responsibility is gun safety say it was the actors job to do a final check as he was the one handling the fire arm.
Yes indeed. It’s basic firearms safety. The people saying otherwise have never handled firearms and are living in a fantasy world.

Tell me browny1, if an “expert” handed you a gun, assured you he had triple checked it and it was empty, then told you to point it at your child and pull the trigger for money, would you do it without checking it yourself first?

So the real issue here is that there are just so many guns in the US that the likelihood of this happening is quite high, while I can guarantee you that a gun on the set of a Japanese movie would be treated like the Holy Grail with a whole crew hired just to watch and protect that gun.
Your statement is full of errors. Prop guns on US movie sets are treated extremely carefully with multiple steps and safety precautions. You say the likelihood of this happening is quite high. In fact there have only been three serious accidents involving guns on US movie sets in the last 100 years. From before John Wayne through Clint Eastwood to Stallone, Schwarzenegger etc. All those movie scenes involving untold “gunshots”,
Only when there is extreme negligence, as in this case with Baldwin and his production, do such deadly incidents occur.

With literally millions of rounds of blanks fired in movies in the last 100 years or so and serious accidents you can count on less than the fingers of one hand - and those were caused by stunning negligence - there is no need to go silly and virtuous by calling for an end to the use of real gunpowder.

Gaijintraveller, really cats can be very happy as indoor cats. I didn’t believe it until I came to Japan and reluctantly acquired a cat in need. My apartment was just not practical for a cat to come and go outdoors.
I consulted a vet recommended to me and he was very happy to hear my cat would stay inside always. It was a surprise to me. My cat has lived only indoors for many years, very happy and healthy.

Is this why the Taliban are parading in full US combat gear including US uniforms, US weaponry, US body armor, night vision, communications equipment, GPS,etc etc?
Add in armored humvees, Bradley vehicles, tanks, helicopters, aircraft etc etc all adding up to over 80 billion dollars and you’ve got an armed force equipped to rival some of the more sophisticated armies in the world.
