This could very well be one of the dumbest things a Japanese politician has ever said.

@CH3CHO That's correct. The last time in 2011 after the earthquake was a coordinated effort with the Fed to weaken the yen. Trump has no point. He is just trying to talk down the dollar. The market is still dumb enough to keep reacting to the nonsense Trump spews.

Posted in: Trump's immigration order faces mounting legal questions See in context

Trump is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If an extremist is granted a visa and allowed into the US like the female half of the San Bernadino attack due to improper vetting ,then Trump will get hammered by liberals for that as well.

Posted in: U.S. judge bars deportations under Trump travel ban See in context

It's a matter of trusting the vetting process under Obama. If you believe that all of the applications were properly vetted during the Obama administration then you would not understand Trump's executive action. If you think there needs to be another look into the vetting process then you understand the executive order.

Rising prices usually translates into people spending money now, because the same thing will be more expensive in the future. This is pretty basic and not ludicrous at all.

@fxgai

Rafa is getting up there in tennis age and is not relatively young by any means. You can cheer for Roger all you want but Rafa already has 14 grand slam singles titles.

@Kurobune I'm glad you can enjoy WTA tennis so much. It is difficult for me to watch knowing the 1000th ranked ATP player could win the women's Australian Open very easily. The level is just so poor and boring compared to the ATP. I would never ever want to see a V vs S final...ever..

All the liberals will never try to understand. They are too pissed off because now they might have to go out and get a job. No more Obama bucks. And it scares the crap out of them.

Posted in: Koike urges Olympic golf venue to allow women members See in context

@Aly I can easily imagine western countries pulling this crap. About 12 or so private golf courses in the UK do not allow women. In the US there are at least that many male only clubs. Like Kasumigaseki these are private clubs. Actually Japan has fewer male only golf clubs than either the US or the UK. It is amazing how people jump all over Japan when they here these things. Koike will have to hope the members of these clubs vote to change their rules. Good luck with that.

Of course Rafa has and is wearing his own Nike Rafa brand. And yes, every picture taken at an event or tournament is an appearance. All the top players have their own sponsor deals. Murray with Under Armour, Fed is with Nike, etc..... I thought this was pretty basic knowledge...

Nishikori is under contract to wear Uniqlo at all events and appearances. As is Rafa, Murray, Dokovic, Federer.......... I also don't understand the problem.

Posted in: Abe offers 'everlasting condolences' at Pearl Harbor See in context

"No apology needed" "War is war. They were doing what they were supposed to do, and we were doing what we were supposed to do" It's a very nice sentiment from Mr. Rodrigues. However, I think Abe should have apologized since the US and Japan were not at war at the time of the attack. Only after the attack did Japan declare war on the US and British forces.

@HonestDictator

What does not showing tax returns have to do with "bribery and treason". Are you suggesting that Obama's IRS hasn't seen Trump's tax returns just because he won't make them public? Trump has filed a tax return every year and if there was evidence of "bribery" or any other irregularities, Trump would be investigated by the IRS and it would make front page news. As far as finding "treason" in his tax returns goes, that makes absolutely no sense at all.

Posted in: The government hopes to get a casino bill passed in the Diet this month. Do you think casinos should be legalized in Japan? See in context

At first I was in favor of casinos. Then I read that they plan on charging locals a 5000 yen entry fee to get in. They think this will decrease the chance of addiction. Good luck with that.

Of course you can leave. But if you do, expect to pay a 35% tax on items you try to sell back to US consumers.

Posted in: There were around 1,900 arrests over women being molested on trains and in and around stations in the Tokyo metropolitan area last year. More than half of the incidents took place inside carriages. See in context

@sensei258

No doubt. Keep both hands visible at all times. There are false charges all the time. Not long ago a businessman complained to a girl putting on her make-up and she reported that he groped her at the next stop. Dude was arrested and given a choice of confessing + 40,000 fine or fighting the charges. He refused to confess for something he didn't do and was locked up without bail until his trial 6 months later. After one year he was found not guilty and released but the damage was done. He lost his job and family.

They are not made in China. They are made in Japan. Honma Golf was taken over by a Chinese enterprise that has kept manufacturing in Japan. This has been known for some time and not a new development.
