Yeah, in a bad way.

Posted in: Chiba riot cop arrested for offering schoolgirl money for sex See in context

When suspicious looking guys approach me and start showing their business cards and/or IDs (happened several times in Shibuya), I immediately blurt out "Sumimasen, Nihongo wakarimasen". Always works.

Posted in: Some convenience stores may remove adult magazines from shelves See in context

They also need to ban ojisans from reading them on the train! I've seen a lot of them. I was even seated next to an old geezer watching AV on his phone.

Haha, in the Philippines, they've been up since the start of "-ber" months!

Posted in: How will American fast food affect Japanese culture? See in context

It's all about portion sizes! A serving here is smaller than in its Western counterparts so I think it makes a lot of difference. I myself go to fast food chains at least once a week but I'm slim because I eat everything in moderation.

Posted in: 7 romantic things that only happen in movies See in context

Cliche 1: Romantic music

Somehow, this reminded me of a breakup several years ago. My then-boyfriend started playing "The Scientist" by Coldplay in the background while breaking up with me. It kinda felt like we were in a movie, and then I was like F*** you!!! Way to add salt to the wound haha

Posted in: A Japanese suicide See in context

Surprise party! Everyone was in the apartment. “Hello,” they all happily shouted at once, and Shun jumped up and ran to me.

When I read this, I was like, "No, this can't be real, you totally made this up." I mean, how could they act like that? How could you be happy (or even pretend to be happy) at a time like that? But then, what do I know, I haven't actually been to an actual Japanese funeral before. So maybe it is real. I wonder if it's the Japanese norm though. Regardless, it was an incredibly touching and sad story.

Posted in: Can men and women really be close platonic friends? See in context

In my case, no. I used to have a guy "best friend" and we ended up having an affair, cheating on our bf/gf. I also used to have close guy friends but it got awkward when they started to like me. Now, I stick to gays and girls. I still have guy friends but not that close. If I do get close to a guy, it's only because I like him i.e. I have a hidden agenda lol.

Posted in: Why Japan doesn’t give a Gangnam about PSY See in context

Personally, I like dancing to the song with the Waveya girl group choreo (i.e. 5 Korean girls who did a sexy/slutty version of Gangnam style). To each her own.

Nice, my university is in there. Only a few girls (let alone pretty ones) in our university so it's easy to stand out (ahem), although guys tend to be intimidated by brainy girls.

Posted in: When you go on a date with someone for the first time (or when you used to, for those of you no longer dating), what do (did) you pay the most attention to? See in context

The chemistry. The conversation has to be natural with no dead silences. If I begin to think of what to say next, that's a bad sign.
