at least Ahmadinejad isn't afraid of popular beliefs or the mechanics of conspiracy theories... wish more people would come out and say what they feel instead of hiding behind the consensus...journalist included.

We may not like what he represents or what he says but Ahmadinejad is no fool.

Maybe if enough of us pool our money we can put out a contract on her "boyfriend" and her and the beeru to ourselves.

This just opens the door for me to have her all to myself once they cart your a$$ off to jail.

Great, cant think of a better way to screw up Palau's delicate reefs and eco system by allowing more people access to Palau. When all the high rise hotels are completed so will begin the end of all the brain coral heads and the blue starfish and the grazing areas for the manatee, just as Guam fell victim to "tourism"

Look at your comment.... you say 'NK', not the 'NK team'*

Read my earlier post, I also say US, S. Korea and Japan when I refer to the other teams too so I dont know what you're going on about. Just because you are so particular doesn't mean that we all have to be grammar experts.

you can't even distinguish between the nation and the sport,

Read my earlier posts, then the response above.

so what business do you have talking about what other people 'feel sorry for'

Same business as you do for questioning my "business"

And heck, even if you DO want to talk about the nation instead of the team, do you not feel sorry for the people of NK for their moronic dictatorship? I sure do!

Thats your problem.

but that's beside the point, which you have again missed (or rather, people who voice the same opinion have missed, and you, too).

I havent missed anything. your getting on me for expressing my opinion, which you may or may not like, and quoting only the parts that you dont like as if I were talking directly to YOU! I could careless.

If you think politics and sport shouldn't mix, then don't watch the Olympics either.*

I agree. just because many here think that this is just a sport, there are those out there including the players that don't. Just because some people here feel pity for NK doesn't mean that they are any more right then those that don't.

I was actually routing for NK to score at least one goal. My ultimate hope for them was that they won this match and eventually see them play Japan, S.Korea or the US. :P

This is just a sport, I do not understand why many people try to transfer their hate for a country's government to a soccer team.

where in my response did I say I hate NK? I think they have a great team that beat out other countries just to even be at the WC. Ive only stated an opinion based on facts. They are facts aren't they? Could you please point out exactly where you drew your conclusion from?

And I thought Germany was cruel. I am no fan of Portugal anymore.

You know what?, some countries see the World Cup as a war, The N. Koreans sent their best warriors just as Portugal did, and the NKs weren't good enough. If you want glory you have to fight for it. If you don't want to play stay home.

i felt so bad for north korea.

Perhaps this will send a message to the "great leader" that Isolation, secrecy, espionage, and brute militarism don't make a great nation, or a great team.

Me too. Portuguese men no gentlemen.

Please read above. Ive met alot of Portuguese men that are true gentlemen, I only have great things to say about one of my mates at uni that was from Santiago. When I was in Portugal, I found them to be a charming, warm and festive people, with a great history and culture behind them. They did what was expected of them, there's no "sympathy" in the WC. They did the right thing. I would only expect the same from the NKs had it been the other way around.

North Korea lost because there were only 3 fans from their country. They were not even cheering.kawai so!

Well, who's fault is that? if their leader would just put down the bamboo curtain and join the rest of the world maybe their poor citizens would get a real shot at life.

yeah hes a tactless twit, $38m a year and he cant even make it seem like he knows what hes doing. BP wouldve been beter off hiring an actor to fill his shoes.

Mr. Hayward was releived of his duties as CEO of BP why shouldn't he do what he wants now?

"Mr." Hayward hasnt been relieved, hes only been relieved of Oil Spill Director. He's still very much employed by BP.

He should resign completely or be shot, the world wouldnt miss him and and his disrepectful comments.

I will quote myself from another post. “So you think a suit and tie man like Hayward should be there spanner in hand, hard hat on head doing what the experts can’t do? Beside I thought you thought that he was useless, isn’t it therefore better he not be there getting in the way of all those American experts that have been trying and failing for the last 50 plus days?”

He is useless. He should resign.

I hope he had a nice day, after the mindless c??p he has had to deal with the last few days he deserves a rest. I just wonder how many of these complainers along the Gulf coast are simply sitting and waiting to be paid before they do anything to help. Yes they should be paid for working, but if there is nobody doing that why not get out and do something for themselves.

Think he would have more tact then to go anywhere near an ocean, When the people that his company has poisoned cant do the same. he shouldve gone golfing or bowling.

They should shove Tony Hayward in that pipe, that should slow the the leak to about 500 barrels a day, and to seal it off, they should cram "Bob" down there too, that should stop the leak, after all Captain goes down with his ship...

What if all this is another Sept. 11th? and the a covert team of Navy seals has sunk the SK ship with a recovered NK torpedo, Destabilization is the most common tactic in modern warfare.

Posted in: Anger and defiance in Taiji after 'Cove' wins Oscar See in context

Taiji-ans are stuck in a rhetorical "allegory of the cave" Im glad that I had better upbringing and that I was able to grow up out of an allegorical cave. I haven't seen the movie as it never showed in my town, but I can tell when something is not right, and now that this movie has been showing around the entire world its up to the world to decide what they think is right or wrong, and I think that the 3,500 villagers of Taiji, and their government (that has bigger problems to worry about) have a dwindling platform to stand upon in their defense. History shows that traditions are not enough to withstand the pressures of the modern world, good or bad. Sure they could continue their Rhetorical traditions and continue to isolate themselves but in the name of what? Rhetoric and tradition? talk about a society heading in the wrong direction, a primitive sub culture of Japan thats angry that the rest of the world doesn't agree with their rituals, and their answer to all this is to cut their noses to spite their faces and head back into the "allegorical cave"
