anything is more plausible than aliens but a Soviet aircraft that was used at Roswell and never heard about again until now...hmm, no.

Posted in: Bin Laden's death prompts questions about legality See in context

Unless UBL made an immediate, overt and sincere effort to surrender himself peacefully there is no question of the legality of shooting him. These were not police serving a warrant where concepts of proportional force and non-lethal means are paramount in effecting an arrest of a suspect. When a warplane bombs enemy troops they aren't necessarily shooting at the aircraft, their mere presence is enough to take action. These were terrorist combatants hiding from all authority and planning further terrorist acts.

Posted in: BIN LADEN BURIED AT SEA AFTER BEING KILLED IN FIREFIGHT WITH U.S. FORCES See in context

Doubters will be silenced in the coming days. Rather elegant to quickly bury the body at sea - no one can gather, rally or build memorials. A bit of closure for some folks but terminating one person obviously does not significantly alter a true network. OBL has likely had little direct involvement with any plans for years. Interesting that though he refrained from phone and internet use, they got to him via a courier - everyone has to communicate, always a weak link.

Eating local in Singapore? That would limit your diet considerably if truthfully followed. I`m sure Singapore imports the bulk of its food.

Gee, yeah, if only they had gambling: mahjong, pachinko, horse racing, bicyle racing, boat racing, Toto, daily, weekly and seasonal lotteries...yeah, if only there was gambling.

Exactly, how late? And obviously there are literally hundreds of port all over Japan, not to mention all the imported seafood, that will not affected. The port that specialized in shark fins was completely wiped out, not a personal favorite but missed by Chinese cuisine fans.

The facts speak for themselves. US forces involved in this directly number about 18,000, 22 ships including the USS Reagan, aircraft carrier. We are extremely committed to this relief effort. Please US Pacific Command website and click on the kanji for tomodachi at the top. Detailed updates with video, pictures, etc.

always prefer to fly this airline going back about 10 yrs now, switched my miles to Krisflyer, as well. Strangely, it can often be the cheapest ticket making it excellent value for money.

Typical, in most countries it would not be legally called juice, as 90% of the product is something else.

Checked the China Daily site, looks decent and they have an iPhone app. Who needs to pay for delivery? If they want to charge for a physical paper after a 2 months trial....good luck.

Better be free because who the heck buys newspapers anymore. So China is the world's leading power now? Maybe in terms of fraud and corruption.

Well, Richard III, I do not suffer fools and ensure (politely but directly) people get up when the elderly or a pregnant woman, etc is standing in front them. I have been here 16 yrs and do not give up my morals just because this is a big city and the trains are crowded. I have two boys and teach am teaching them how to be polite and caring citizens, just as perhaps your parents taught you.

Yes, remember you are the pack leader to a wolf. Be great if people stopped carrying dogs around strollers; wolves don't wear sweaters, either. Yesterday I saw a dog with pink shoes.

boring and derivative - always fall asleep during these movies. If it is getting some children to actually read more books, that is great but I am happy to say I have never paid to see these movies. Perhaps growing up reading The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings set a high standard.

Not everyone lives near Nippori. I and a few million others who live in SW Tokyo have never even thought about taking the Keisei-sen. Looking forward to the possibility of flights from Haneda as they will be quite convenient for me. Article states that 30,000 more flights will be added - wow. That is about 3.5 more flights per hour, 24 hrs/day, every day of the year. Great, if they can handle it smoothly.

I do believe the fixed wing aircraft, the c-130's are headed to Iwakuni. The new area proposed next to Schwab is for the rotary aircraft, the helicopters, which obviously must be near the troops they train with and transport. Interesting that everyone says how pristine the waters around Schwab are...the Marines have been using that are for training for an awfully long time, with Amtracs going out in the water quite often. Helos also refuel and do training with recon troops there. I dove there myself when I was stationed there.

This guy is smart, driven and has passion for what he does. Likely it does not seem like a "job" to him. I know him, not a friend, an acquaintance. Next time JT can do a story about someone giving out free hugs next to Hachiko but personally I enjoy reading stories about fellow aliens succeeding in various endeavors here on the archipelago.
