Posted in: Modern etiquette: Proper protocol when leaving a job See in context

my oft-referred to enormous half-black puerto rican friend had the best exit: after clogging the entire building's plumbing system (on taco tuesday, of course), he ran, buck naked, up to the roof - trailing all sorts of nasty behind him - and launched himself to the street below. as you'd expect, he's quite indestructible and walked away fine, but the cars parked below weren't so lucky. it was glorious, to say the least.

Posted in: Do you mix wasabi and soy sauce? Some people say you shouldn’t See in context

all my Japanese friends and girlfriends I've ever had have mixed. even a lot of older work colleagues tended to do so as well. and to be honest it doesn't really harm anything unless you're eating at a really fine, expensive establishment.

not surprising at all. typical shallow women only care about cash money. actually the one surprising thing is that it wasn't closer to 100% for the ugly guy.

glad i never picked up hayfever; it was nice going outside and enjoying myself without looking ridiculous. especially since effective antihistamines like benadryl will probably never be approved in jp.

Posted in: Foreign complaints as Nikkei scoops Japan's inside line See in context

The whole problem with Nikkei and other Jpublications is the very fact of no sources being necessary. Might as well go read 4chan for your daily news facts if you're going to believe something without proper sources and citations.

"A mother had their child urinate in a trash bin." So that is any worse than the salary men all over Japan urinating and puking on the train platforms nightly.

still doesn't justify public urination of any kind. both parties are wrong.

Posted in: How come Japan has never demanded an official apology from any U.S. government for the dropping of atomic bombs on two of its cities? In fact, why don't Japanese hate America for dropping the bombs? See in context

Probably because when you're the aggressor and proceed to lose you don't get to demand anything. That's how war works.

These comments about women traveling alone reek of victim blaming and sexism

no, it's called crime prevention through common sense. it's just a good idea for anyone, man or woman, to just have some damn common sense about things like travelling abroad, or hell, even going out alone at night in your own neighborhood.

Sure hope they can succeed, and quickly (yeeeeah not likely). I'm hooked on the service now and think it's the greatest thing ever - even greater than sliced bread itself. Would like to use it on my next trip to the big To to the kyo.

Posted in: Pity those with 'monster neighbors' See in context

Last year I had quite the neighbor...he was an enormous half black, half puerto rican guy who could regularly consume 40+ supreme burritos. Double on Taco Tuesdays. I came to find out after time that the tremors I was feeling multiple times a day, which I thought perhaps was normal due to being in Japan, were the seismic result of this behemoth's bowel movements. Sometimes at 2 in the morning a giant 'bbbbbbbbbbbbbrrrwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaappppp' would startle me awake. Funny thing is, he was somehow the biggest (pun intended) ladies' man I've ever known, and was regularly pulling the hottest young galz from all over the city. Meanwhile, I was just my lonely old self with my green 1967 station wagon and large collection of David Bowie albums that I would usually leave on to drown out said neighbor's nightly exploits. Sometimes, in the silence of the night, even across the Pacific I can still feel the rumbling produced by that legendary Snaffleupagus of a man. bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbrrwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaapppp

if you look at twitter, most people in japan are actually complaining about those two guys - saying they deserve it for sticking their necks out and going there in the first place. not exactly the same solidarity we saw in the case of the Paris attacks aftermath. i like pie.
