agreed with tmarie. What's the point of making yourself look a fool for some temporary fame. She could be so much more.

how was he supposed to apologize with his mouth covered in tape and tied inside of a garbage bag? why the hell did this woman drink alcohol with medication to begin with? there is something seriously wrong in her head to do any of this. I get angry at my 5 year old students and their smart ass remarks and I am sure their mothers do too but..to go this far..

Posted in: 8-year-old boy dies after being hit by car in Saitama See in context

There is a intersection like this next to my house. I have almost been hit by a car 5 times in the past 2 years at this place as people will turn without slowing down to see if there are pedestrians. There are no cross lights here and people crossing follow the traffic lights but this does not stop drivers from dangerously turning in. Many car accidents happen in the same spot because of this and 2 deaths have happened resulting in hit and runs. I can't really blame anybody here but the driver for not being extra careful.

My grandmother in law has only hiragana for her name since the Kanji for her name no longer exists or never existed. Her name is Minewo and it's always in Hiragana or Katakana on new years cards. When I asked why he said "her name has no Kanji" This article was very interesting though!

Posted in: Woman held for attempted murder of 4-month-old daughter See in context

It's not right what this mother did but do any of you have children? many people because exhausted from child rearing and it's even harder in Japan as it is commonly believed that a woman should raise her kids alone. Dad doesn't help even when he is home because he is usually over worked and mom and mother in law often don't help either as they tell their daughters it's their responsibility. Post Partum kicks in really quick especially if you are over stressed from raising two kids by yourself. Having a 4 month old at the age of 39 is pretty difficult too. I feel sorry for this baby but I also feel sorry for the mother. Like I said she never should have done this and I pray the baby survives and the mother can get therapy.

calling this a rampage and a tragic scene is trying to make people believe it was a murder scene inside of the grocery store but instead it was some angry jerk destroying food products...I agree with Cleo.

7/11 was stupid to even avoid doing this! Nobody wants to pay full price for something about to expire..it seems they would rather risk not making money at all and throwing the product away then to discount it before it expires to make some money off of it? wow.

I like the tissue guys because In the 3 and a half years I have lived here I have never had to buy pocket tissues. I pick them up occasionally and my husband gets them on a daily basis. We have a drawer full of them and take a pack with us everywhere we go. As for the others..away with them I can understand some coupon or flyer that you can turn down but what I really hate are the guys with iPads in Nagoya with stuff about restaurants on them. They get paid for showing you restaurants in the area but they don't let you turn them down they will freaking follow you down the street trying to get you to stop and look at their iPad!

Posted in: Gov't to introduce age cap of 42 for subsidized fertility treatment See in context

I think allot of people are missing the point here. It is already dangerous for a woman after 35 to have children. The risk of mental illness and other disabilities becomes higher after 35 as well as a woman's fertility after 40 becomes lower. There are lower chances of getting pregnant and you still have to pay the bill whether you get pregnant or not I believe. This isn't about not helping the declining birth rate it's about helping people not waste their money and maybe even possibly lower chances of mental and physical disability. I have also seen my fair share of mothers in their 40's unable to care for their kids properly and end up suffering severely from postpartum and killing their kids too or being so over protective of them they can't leave them at pre school without screaming fits between mother and child as I have witnessed at my own school.

Posted in: 3 most unattractive women’s hairstyles (according to Japanese men) See in context

The fact that the author of the article suggests you get a notepad ready to write down what you should not do with your hair doesn't have anything to do with "how you should look"? or the fact that one man in the survey told a woman to her face he disliked her hair cut? telling girls they basically look like creepy dolls or monsters in their hair style isn't a form of telling someone how they should look? Sure some hair styles turn people off but is there a reason to do a survey and write an article about it and cause the women who do have these hair styles to feel bad about themselves and possibly go out and try to get rid of the hair style they felt confident in before?

Posted in: I won’t leave. Companies aren’t supposed to act this way. It’s inhumane. See in context

I never understood that..making them feel unwanted and not giving them any work but paying for them to do nothing. On the other hand it is better than what some smaller companies do. My husband was once asked by a boss (who is now transferred and demoted due to similar incidents) to bully an old man to make him quit. I told him "don't you dare bully that man! what if he were your father!?" He refused to bully the poor man so the boss started to bully my husband which ended after a few months due to demotion. If it's not the chase out room it is bullying....

What reason does a woman have to conform to what men think her hair or clothing should look like? none at all. Cut your hair the way you like, dress the way you want, do your make up or don't. Nobody has the right to tell you how to look.

Posted in: Japan Society for Tobacco Control not happy with new Studio Ghibli movie See in context

I was a bit shocked when the lead character started smoking as it is uncommon in animation these days and I didn't really life it but it didn't ruin the movie for me. I didn't walk out feeling like I needed to become a smoker again. Hell I was there opening weekend and there weren't really any children in the theater as the movie is aimed toward adults and not children this time.

Their complaints make me wonder about other animated pieces though...what about One Piece? there are a couple of characters that walk around with cigarettes and cigars in their mouths at all time.. Sanji is one of the main characters and is always seen with a cigarette in his mouth. There is even a character named Smoker and he smokes at least 2 cigars at a time. How have they never complained about this show that is popular with all age demographics and has even had movies in theaters before? Why target just Ghibli if they are going to go on about this?

Saba is good for you but only in small amounts. These diet fads have always been strange to me. One of my friends heard about Avacado helping you lose weight so now she eats avacado for breakfast lunch and dinner..for me I just use Tanita's cook books and I lost weight cooking low calorie foods served in smaller portions as instructed in the book and so far have done well..just learn about the food you are eating and how much to cook and how much to eat.

This always terrified me about some of these street stands. You see the gas cans and the generators not very far from hot cooking areas and often..you see the man running the stall smoking a cigarette while cooking or standing near the generator..one of my friends was actually burned by one of these guys taking a break waiting for customers he smoked a cigarette in a chair next to his generator and grill swung his arm out into the crowd and burned her right on the arm. Someone needs to enforce safety checks on these stalls. Make sure things are running correctly and safely.

Posted in: 2-year-old girl dies after being hit by vehicle in supermarket car park See in context

Horribly tragic...I hope more parents try to be careful but..like many have said there are many ways this will happen over and over again. I once saw a mother arms heavy with diaper bags and other children's play things and a small baby in her arm. Her 2 year old took off running through the parking lot and headed straight for a busy road. She shouted many times "STOP! STOP RIGHT NOW!!" the girl ignored her and kept running her friend who had an older child walking with her ran and grabbed her and pulled her away before she made it for the main road. Her mother just went "geeeez! that is dangerous!" and that was it...no..real reprimand or anything this child was laughing and tried to do it again but mom grabbed her arm and forced her into her mini van and closed the door without strapping the kid into a seat and drove off..meanwhile I just stood there shocked over it all..parents..for the love of all that is good and great protect your children properly!

not contradictory what I said. Cleo. I make my own money, My husband makes his own money. We split that money to house hold and spend the other one whatever we want. We share all of our spending info. She doesn't have a job she is a house wife and gets mad at what he spends his money on. Like many have said it is an innocent hobby..at least he isn't blowing it at hostess clubs or a woman on the side. As long as he provides for them well I see no issue in doing what he wants with his money.

Who said he was collecting the bottles? Campaigns mean you buy a product and you get something in return. Whatever he bought could have been used by the whole family. While that is excessive it is his hobby. If she didn't like him spending his own money on himself in that quantity then you discuss it not destroy his possessions. The whole wife controlling all money has always bothered me. My husband and I share everything. If I buy my hobbies it comes from my own money. My clothes my own money. We set money aside for household as well. I have friends whose wives control everything and 10000 yen a month is all they are allowed! Once married their credit cards and bank info were forfeit. I can't tell how many times I have been out with this friend and he has to wait for his wife to bring him money so he can eat lunch. He even has to pay her for bento she makes! If he doesn't pay her she doesn't make it and he has to eat on his allowance. Some people are too controlling.

The wife had no right to do any of that. He can spend his own hard earned money as he pleases. Everybody has a hobby I am sure she knew he had this hobby when she married him. I collect anime and manga as well and my husband didn't like it at first but became used to it and has even joined in on some of it with me. I join in on his hobbies as well like hiking and sports and we both share the similar hobby of art. If you don't like what your husband/wife is doing you discuss with them how much money is being spent you don't throw that money on the side of the road and destroy it like that. She did much worse by destroying expensive things like that. I am sure she wanted to spend the money he was spending on herself and her son because you know in Japan a man is only good for bringing in money. I am glad I make my own money.
