Just a couple nuts and bolts questions; A) Where did the taxi driver fill up? Those things don't run on actual gas and I'm not sure but I don't think most highway gas stations have the natural gas they need. B) Taxi meters go up to 359,230 yen?!?

pointofview- why shouldn't flight attendants and other (staff) earn a high wage? In the recent jet which 'landed' in the Hudson or the one which caught fire on the runway in Denver which would you rather have a) well paid, trained professional staff or b) temp-staff from some outsourcing company?

Someone is making a lot of money on these videos and I'm not sure it's him. On a recent flight back from the states he was back in steerage with the rest of us poor folk. Either he was downgraded, is extremely frugal, or spends all his money on something else.

sounds yummy. Now for the rest of us in steerage it is still beef or chicken and $6.00 for a beer. Mine was completely inedible on a recent flight from SFO to KIX.

a quick google on 'peace pot microdot' turns up this from the urban dictionary:

Peace. Pot. Micro-Dot.

A time-honored farewell, wishing other stoners and hippies a happy and high goodbye.

Didn't know he was a stoner. Maybe the LA thing was a drug deal gone bad.

Posted in: Beat Takeshi to play war criminal Hideki Tojo in TV drama See in context

Doesn't Takeshi have two very different persona? When he is hitting people over the head with a giant plastic hammer he is "Beat". When he is directing or acting he is Kitano, Takeshi. His filmography is quite extensive and includes several international award winners. The headline for the article should probably reflect that difference.

might have something to do with the fact that they raised prices and a 24 case is close to 5000 yen. Just got back from the states where you can get a case of unbelievable craft brewed ale for less than have that.

It's 6.00 bucks or 600 yen for a beer on their international flights starting August first. Guess I'll be looking more and more at flying JAL or ANA from now on.

Posted in: DoCoMo to sell BlackBerry to individual users from August See in context

" enable users to transmit up to 80,000 packets of data per month"

I guess I need someone to explain it to me like I'm a 5 year old. Actually the average 5 year old probably has a better grasp of what this means. What does this mean? Is there a kilobyte or megabyte conversion or comparison? For example how many packets is a 70k email. If I check out one youtube vid is that gonna blow my whole 'packet' allowance for the month? Softbank will offer unlimited data on the iphone for around 7000yen. 1680 sounds a lot better as long as I'm not exceeding my limit everytime I check out a google map.

Posted in: Apple's iPhone could find Asia tough to crack See in context

Seems odd to me that Softbank is not pushing this more. There have been no TV ads. Where are Cameron and Brad with their iphones. Not even any posters or print advertisements aththe stores. Are they counting on word of mouth or are they purposely consigning it to failure. Then we will hear nothing but 'yapari' We only like our domestic models.

Posted in: Softbank reaches deal with Apple to sell iPhone handsets in Japan this year See in context

I wonder why apple didn't release a press release about this as well?

Probably because Apple hasn't even announced that they have a phone that will work in Japan yet. Also wouldn't be surprised if Docomo also jumps in as well. Which would be good cause than I wouldn't have to change to Softbank. BTW how does the softbank coverage compare to Docomo in the city and the boonies? I've been pretty satisfied with Docomo coverage and customer service and don't really want to change but will have to in order to get an iPhone in a New York minute.
