Posted in: Japan rice prices remain high despite gov't plans to release reserves See in context
On Feb. 14, the government said it would release up to 210,000 tons of its stockpiled rice, to be handed over to wholesalers in mid-March after it has been bid for and expected to hit store shelves between late March and early April.
The farm ministry expected the announcement alone would lead to lower prices before the release of the stockpiled rice.
Can't say I agree with that expectation, they haven't even released it as it's not mid March yet.... And you're expecting a price drop?

this deal can be revised whenever we get an adult back in the White House.
I also don't think that's a given, neither is any adult would arguably back yourself out of a advantageous deal that is in place regardless of the underlying reason.

Not to be heartless and non emotional, but it's wrong to think a celebrity's suicide is whats going to move the needle. Sure it's unfortunate and things can be done to prevent it, but those who are successful also are the ones with the most resources (time and money) to deal with it. We all make our own decisions and have to live with those consequences.

I honestly don't know if anyone would ever agree with me, but i use to think the reason for people's actions are complex, and there's always a factor I was not aware of impacting it. But too often the reason is the most simplistic one, there is nothing there that can't be explained, in fact there is only one factor nothing else.
With regards to religion, I'm perhaps surprised at the importance it has in the world, within our routine, the conflicts it has with science etc. Perhaps it does provide a large social fulfillment aspect and is lodged into our history, and people are averse to change.

There likely isn't an exact trail of who lost what. Sure some compensation is in order but the bank isn't suppose to have an exact record of what's in the safety box and the customer would have somewhat of a hard time proving it.
Perhaps the above plays into why she hasn't been arrested.

Perhaps I am biased but the examples presented of it not working, is obvious that it would not work that way. Perhaps the examples was determined based on the desired conclusion, or all the marketing and jargon used has caused the educator to forget that AI is just a tool; like a calculator. And would you rely on a specially tailored calculator to teach the kid calculus or even simple math?
Also this tailored for kids AI thing isn't going to work, and I know it's scary to introduce AI to kids unfiltered but theres not training wheels version of AI. They will find the internet and search engines someday and in a way it's a leap either way.

If it was just transfered to 401k then it's essentially at no additional cost to Boeing in the short term if they reinstate the defined benefit plan. If they paid out the reduction in necessary reserve when it was abolished in the form of dividends then thats on Boeing.

Posted in: Striking Boeing workers aim to restore old retirement program See in context
The key difference in a defined benefit and a defined contribution plan is the risk lies with the company to make sure the investment of the contribution is sufficient to support the benefit payout rather than the employee. In both cases the plan is somewhat tied to the stock market.
I think it is good gesture if Boeing were to accept reinstatement of the plan, but then again what happened when it was abolished? Where did the existing funds go?
