Posted in: Suga's pledge to boost fertility treatment won't reverse declining birth rate, say experts See in context

According to the Japanese government the birthrate is 1.36 per 1,000; the point of no return is 1.8 per 1,000 and any population statistician will tell you it impossible to recover without massive influx of non-Japanese which is not going to happen. Actually, what the government doesn't tell us is the population should stabilize at approximately 80 million when the postwar generation goes up in smoke -- this should occur within the next 25 to 40 years...

Why is this news? Virtually 100% of the people in her age group suffer symptoms no worse than a mild cold.

Posted in: Trump returns to White House See in context

News flash to all you negative posters. The average age of ALL COVID deaths in the US is 74 -- the average live span of ALL Americans is 78. Guess what, we are all going to die; either old age or an illness. The MSM scares you in reporting some specific cases of young people who died BUT downplayed or did not report they had a comorbidity. BTW, NHK reported last night that 80% of all the 1,500+ COVID deaths in Japan were people over 70. So stop complaining and blaming others for circumstances you cannot control; like the Swedes, just get on with you life...

Posted in: New York Times: Trump paid no federal income taxes in 10 of past 15 years See in context

Okay all you losers. If Trump had done anything wrong and not paid his taxes according to IRS rules he would have suffered the consequences. BTW, how much tax do you think Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and all those billionaires pay every year? Finally, if you think about it, we only pay taxes to give us the illusion that our money is worth something -- remember, the dollar created out of thin air and backed by a promise LOL!!!

Instead of defending the actions/lifestyle of a violent criminal Osaka could do something to really improve the lives of people of color. How about wearing a face mask that says "School Vouchers for ALL." Oh wait, that would really alienate the teachers union in America.

Hey JT, you really need to change your comments algorithm to allow for replies within comments; it makes for a better discussion. There is something definitely wrong with your system when comments get 16+ "-" marks when the commenter sites an independent fact checker site like Snopes. Stop being a troll site and practice responsible journalism...

If possible, please indicate the number of infected persons in each age group. Just stating x-number of people are infected has little relevance; just like stating x-number of person died from COVID.

I suggest you confirm with your employer here in Japan to make sure there still is a job for you before making the journey.

How about more promotion of EVs. Japan is an ideal country for them: excellent power grid, small vehicles and on average less miles travelled. Unfortunately, the oil industry has the Japanese government officials in their pockets and the change to EVs is moving at a glacial to non-existent pace...

@ Bogden, last time I checked it wasn't Trump demanding to defund the police, its your BLM buddies! What's more important giving up some civil liberties or body count?

Read Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act; FB and Twitter have bent its language as far as they can and are on the verge of losing their status as just an independent platform, so FB made the prudent business decision (lose some advertisers, but still stay relevant) not to block certain content that some foaming-at-the-mouth liberals call hate speech.
