Posted in: Japan 'on the brink' as it struggles to hold back coronavirus See in context

Hong Kong and Singapore are reporting just 50 new cases a day and have already closed down bars , clubs , karaoke and have implemented strict social distancing measures . While here we are seeing 200 + cases a day ( 261 Today btw )and no restrictions in place what so ever. Do nothing or go all in ! This game of low testing and slow response would make this pandemic here for a very very long time .

Posted in: Tokyo records most new coronavirus cases in a day as pressure for lockdown builds See in context

A lockdown is imminent but do not panic yet. Half of the recent daily cases are linked to clusters and imported cases. A lockdown will get into effect when an overshoot happens because there are too many untraceable cases. We will not get into a NY scenario for now.

I have seen the Hokkaido governor in action more than Tokyo's. And its still "urging" , so people wont listen anyways. No social distancing happening either ,masks are hard to get ,more untraceable clusters appearing - Its going south soon in Tokyo

Wow more restrictions to already confused citizens of the world. "Hi boss I am going on a months leave" - Travel to a country and get quarantined for 2 weeks, get released, fly back and get quarantined for 2 weeks.

Thats why its important to keep cashflow in check and have a reserve for 6-12 months worth of working capital .Just taking on a pile debt and hoping for constant cash flows will fail during emergencies such as this.

Posted in: Abe says gov't will announce more measures on March 10 to counter virus See in context

If Japan was heavily under testing or under reporting of possible cases, why haven't the deaths from the virus increased dramatically ? As you can see in the case of Korea and Italy now. Or is it just a matter of time? Btw I dont see many people coughing on my daily commutes ,which makes me to think infection is not a pandemic here yet. I might be wrong..

If any one of the passengers that left the ship and currently quarantined in their country test positive in the coming days, it will be a direct link to say the governments plan has failed. Wait and watch this space!

Is there a reason why Japan hasn't closed its borders for all people from china , like what US and Australia have done? we have flights coming in everyday with passengers possibly carrying the virus with no initial symptoms. How will you stop this spread??

Posted in: Takeda agrees to $62 billion takeover of Shire See in context

Glad to see a Foreign CEO push the boundaries in a Japanese company .

However, with Takeda's share price falling almost 20% since March and the shire shareholders to receive .839 new takeda shares, I dont really see much of a return for the shire shareholders. With a huge debt coming onto takeda's balance sheet and heavily relying on Shires Hemophilia, they might pull it off if they spin off some assets and reduce the workforce. Very Very risky deal indeed but for now the advisers and bankers are all opening bottles of Champagne.
