Posted in: Do you think it is important that world leaders meet in person sometimes rather than online? See in context

World leaders should try to meet as often as possible, for one strong and existential reason; it might help them befriend and understand each other, which will make threats and wars less present in their plans and speeches.

Posted in: Cannes filmmakers urge France to face up to colonial past See in context

When you resist looking in the mirror for so long , you'll look bad and ugly, and you'll surely be needing help to break up with that habit.

The filmmakers here are doing just that, helping France to look in the mirror to see how bad and horrible a person or a nation could be while denying nations the right to justice and fairness.

One and half million Algerian had been slaughtered by France's army and settlers, and yet no recognition, no apology and no shame whatsoever.

Believing I should dictate to a nation how it should treat women, it surely implies that they don't miss a thing in the society I belong to. I wonder if this is really the case in western societies with all the sexuality involved and the censorship imposed on any critical discussion about the sexualisation of women's body!

I think zelensky is either out of touch or lost control. Anyone with an eye and a sense of responsibility would try to negotiate a deal, you can't just wait until the entire population flee the country!

Ukraine had become NATO's battlefield, thanks to mr president!

Posted in: Japan to double Ukraine aid to $600 million See in context

Japan should make use of this aid by asking zelensky to be deadly serious about the bloody mess he got Ukrainians into.

The guy doesn't seem quite aware of the actual situation, let alone of tomorrows. A new leader, with all it takes to be in control of the country's destiny, seems the only way out of this mess.

To get a genuine and accurate answer to whether the media coverage had been unbiased or not, you just need to reverse sides and see how demonised and dehumanised Palestinians will be in the media.

Some comments here would be helpful to get the picture.

Beiden could have solved the issue in no time just by calling on mothers to breastfeeding their babies.

But for a mother to wait for such a call to do what's right and urgent for her baby makes her motherhood very questionable.

Posted in: Once-neutral Sweden seeks NATO membership in historic shift See in context

Now, are you going to claim the Russians will prosecute their soldiers for war crimes as western nations do?

If western nations did, in fact and for no other considerations but the rule of law, prosecute any high ranked soldiers, for war crimes, the Russians would have had no option but to endure shame and disgrace if they don't.

Posted in: Taliban promise 'good news' soon on girls' education See in context

Even if what you're saying is true, which is not by the way because Taliban is Sunni and mutah is practiced by Shia only, that has nothing to do with having a legalised sex industry ( corporates hiring women to provide sexual services for men) with all the damages it implies on women and girls (under aged included) mentally, physically, and socially.

What is practiced in Afghanistan is exclusively marriage, legally, socially and religiously approved.

We should look in the mirror first, before trying to give lessons on how women should be treated.

I suggest trying to reduce the number of late shows to two or three at most. By having just three or two we will get hosts trying their best, and more viewers with less chances to get them lost in " more talks and choices".

By not trying to end the war in any peaceful way!

They're not in a war!

Letting the war in Ukraine taking more time and lives compelled Finland and Sweden to seek NATO's membership, and it wasn't unplanned!

@ theFu

I totally agree, women anywhere should be educated and have unobstructed access to education... but you're missing out that Afghanistan just came out of a devastating war, judging it as if nothing happen can't be fair and just.

Let's be honest, would there be any reason for Russia to feel threatened by Sweden or Finland if they didn't answer NATO's call?

Russia's problem is NATO not its neighbours.

"..this most vile batch of terrorists.."

That's pretty much out of hate than reason, as I haven't came across any news accusing Taliban of committing a terrorist attack elsewhere in the world. Inside Afghanistan they were fighting for what the Ukrainians are fighting for today.

As for what you call " its war against women and girls.'

Let me remind you that Muslim school girls in France and in other countries are being banned from attending classes if seen with headscarfs.. I haven't heard anyone calling for any kind of sanctions against those countries, have you?
