Posted in: Health diets from overseas flooding Japan, but are they right for Japanese bodies? See in context

This sounds a lot of BS to me but she does make a tiny point about some genetic differences but not huge like she is saying. I remember in college that Oceanic people were more prone to obesity due to a small genetic marker that helps them retain more body mass. This was believed to be so that they could basically survive long voyages at sea. This makes sense since you want to have as much body mass as possible.

Though her logic sounds like shes taking the genetic thing and running it all the way the rabbit hole.

There is a big difference between freezing fish in ice for a gimmick and having them to take a few cups of sake for a religious/cultural event. At least this event we see the fish let go and for what looks like they all live after this event.

The sad thing is that they probably have no idea what type of person he is other than the "next" orange president. They should do some research and find out how horrible he really is before they start wearing his damn cloths.

They seriously need to make some type of path to citizenship here or relax immigration. Can they not just renounce there past country and become a J-citizen or take a test?

Amend it just enough to allow the JSDF to exist under the constitution. I say that's all there needs to be.

Posted in: Fan-made Nazi anime parody, 'Goeppels-chan,' appears in Japan See in context

I'm a fan of anime and I'm quite surprised that it took this long to make it into the news. I mean their is an art booklet of all the horrible dictators in the world in "cute" anime moe form. Though pretty sure it never had any captions that went along with the art. Still this is pretty horrible and I hope the person who made this reads up on WWII before they make any more of this junk.

Posted in: Rabid animal rights activists go head-to-head with tradition See in context

From what I heard, Taji is actually a hunt they been doing for culture/ hunting reason and not for religious reason, even I'm against something like rounding them up and killing them. As for European traditions is that just legal laws or was that type of punishment used based on religious reasons? I know that every religion has there legal laws but what about sacrificing an animal? For the Jewish religion what was the reason for them stopping it by chance?

Posted in: Rabid animal rights activists go head-to-head with tradition See in context

If it's part of the religion then they have a right to do it if it's only 2 frogs. It's not like their going a hunting spree and killing hundreds of them. Plus its in room closed off from the public, what gives these people the right to order people around when they have been doing this for 1,000 years. I hate this type of Eco-activist when they have give no consideration to the religion.

Posted in: Japan must recognise Kuril islands for peace deal: Lavrov See in context

I guess its another 70 years before we see a peace agreement. Looks like Japan is going to wait until Russia collapses on itself before snagging a deal like they tried to do the last time.

Posted in: Q&A: A look at Japan's contentious security legislation See in context

The only thing in this bill that makes any real sense is that Japan can fire a missile that is headed to the US from North Korea and even a minesweeper patrol doesn't sound too bad if its to only protect trade lanes. Now everything else about this I'm pretty much confused or against. I know times are changing rapidly in the region but isn't there a better way? Any way this can be repealed by the next administration or hell even narrow it down so that the government can't use the vague words to get what it wants?

You know since Japan signed that secrecy law, its nice to know that people are still leaking stuff to the media. But this would help out the Philippines a lot.

Posted in: China sets Sept 3 to mark WWII victory over Japan See in context

Japan needs to acknowledge what it has done in the past and not try to give in to the far right wing people. Its the fact that people in the government that make pretty much denial or suggesting a denial of WWII or the horrors that it brought.

Posted in: China sets Sept 3 to mark WWII victory over Japan See in context

....But the communist party never actually defeated the Japanese, it was the Nationalist faction. They were relegated to maintaining the supply line and even then they failed at that I believe. Taiwan can do it since they actually did fight on the front lines but the communist party saved its power until after the war to win over the Nationalist faction.

Just because the word China is in the South China Sea does not mean that you get to claim all of it. Look at Sea of Japan, you don't see Japan claiming everything within it.

Posted in: Gov't eyes nuclear power for 20-22% of electricity supply See in context

Why don't they put this much emphasis and energy on other cleaner renewable energy? I understand the need to cut off the import of fuel and still maintain energy supply but still Japan needs to think really long term especially after Fukushima disaster.
