It's nice to know that not every person working in the government at that time had been swirled up in propaganda. They really do need to at least mention him more often in the history books around the world.

Why is it that the royal family has more common sense than politicians in power? Hopefully this might keep him in check.

Well lets all at least hope that they keep EVERYTHING transparent and specify or narrow what situations they can use this. There's at least one party that's wary of this type of change.

Posted in: China to hold military parade to 'frighten Japan' See in context

"Even now the part played by the People’s Liberation Army in China’s earlier resistance against Japanese invasion remains a key element of the Communist Party’s claim to a right to rule."

Sorry but you can't stand to see how the Communist took credit when it was the Nationalist army and another faction fighting the real war against Japan while the communist were told to hold the supply lines in check or guard a flank. They saved their forces until the war over and then fought the Nationalist. This is truly a great example of history is written by the winners.

But on the subject of the article, China is a bully and wants to use its military to scare the rest of the world. Typical communist playbook.

...wait, wait, wait.... Didn't you just say that the economy is number one priority? So what is this then a side project or your real motive? You can't have it both ways.

Why can't we all agree that something like this can never happen again and that both China and Japan should man up to their own history and stop whitewashing their own history books.

...really now ... that's the best you can do? I just listened to both the Japanese and the Chinese national anthems and while both do sound nice if you don't know what their talking about. The Japanese one sounds more peaceful than the Chinese one which has pretty aggressive words in it. I mean the whole song is pretty much telling you to rebel and fight.

Posted in: More than half of Chinese see war with Japan: poll See in context

At least Japan acknowledges that the atrocities of WWII actually happened, with exception of those right wing nut jobs. On the other hand, China claims that its cultural revolution and industrial polices when it took power never killed anyone. At least Japan acknowledges that such events even happen (with the unfortunate probability that they probably fudged the numbers in the history books) than just blatantly deny that it ever existed.

I find this news very disheartening. I grew up watching there movies and now its one of the last bastion of the type of old fashion drawing style that I love. I do hope they will still make movies.

At least their are still people in the industry who think that the current anime voice acting sounds suck and are willing to change it. I too can't watch some shows due to this very reason and wish that they would go back to the acting in the 80's and 90's.

How can you refuse much needed help when people are trapped inside a sinking ship with little time? Its times like these that you really need to throw politics out the window and help out.

Really Sea Shepherd? Really now... are you sure it was the whalers that were attacking or was it that, there ship was trying to avoid you while you rammed you ship into their hull. Come on now we all seen this excuse too many times to care. We all know you attack their ships while you go to the press and call foul!

Posted in: China aims for Nanjing's history to speak loudly on Japan See in context

The massacre can not be forgotten or denied but like in any country there will always be people who deny these things. Japan and China are no different. With Japanese politicians trying to deny Nanjing and Chinese government for trying to cover up or gloss over Tiananmen square and other crack downs on democracy. We can only hope that people can learn from these things to build a better world.

Doesn't the TPP effect multiple countries? So basically you try to punish one country and instead punish all countries involved. Let them hunt Dolphins just in much much smaller amounts and more humane death.

Posted in: China memorial to Korean assassin sparks Japan feud See in context

It seems reasonable for Korea to have hero's that fought off Japanese and hail them. Sort of seems odd that China would support it even though they support the North.

General Park Chung Hee would be hard to call a hero since he was pretty much a dictator. Since he curtailed freedom of speech and press. Using his powers to take out his opponents. Though he did help Korea after the war with his economic policy.

What do you have to hide Sea Shepherd? Are you afraid that the truth that you guys are being the aggressors in this "whale war"?

Also Japan does need to cut back on this whaling thing. But how about you fire on the European nations and other whaling nations that actually say their doing it and don't give a hoot about you.

From what I heard the South Korean government took all that money and used it to set up its economy, that's why the people never got any money. This was at the time when S. Korea was under the president/ dictator guy with the threat of N. Korea still strong. Is this right or did I read it wrong??
