The ratio of debt to gdp of 250 is the gross ratio that includes debt between entities. If these internal debts are deducted the ratio is much lower. Apart from that the debt can be easily rolled over by issuing new debt to replace old debt. Also, why only compare debt to gdp? Apart from debt there are also government held assets that can be sold.

Moreover, tombs of ancient fishermen from Ilan and Keelung are scattered all over the island groups . Japan destroyed the burial grounds of the Chang and Su families while pretending to build a lighthouse there but there are still too many inside caves and large crevasses that it's impossible for Governor Shintaro Ishihara's posse to destroy all.
@Hiro S Nobumasa: Could post a link to find the information above about the desecrated graves on the islands? I never read about it before.

Just relocate the school. To build it close to the runway was not very wise in the first place.

When I see them being dragged from their boat and arrested I feel sorry for them. They have stolen but they are also human beings suffering. Just have mercy and send them back. Cannot the people of Hakodate collect some items that they wanted to discard anyway and give to them as farewell present?

Again, are you saying it would have happened anyway if Japan had not colonized the nations to begin with?
It would not have happened. But the agreement to divide Korea was one between the US and the Soviet Union without Japan being involved in that decision. That's why I can't follow your sentence "it was divided BECAUSE of Japan". It was divided by the US and the USSR after Japan had left.

I never said it was divided BY Japan -- it was divided BECAUSE of Japan. Or was it divided before Japan got there
What makes you think Korea is divided because of Japan? Because that happened after colonization ended?
This timing is not the cause of today's division.

The wooden boat was towed into a port outside Hakodate in Hokkaido on Sunday for inspection by police and the coast guard. The officials are also questioning the crewmen.
@ Scrote: Read before you comment and you will know that they are still here.

Theft. Plain and simple. Item were not taken to survive. Others arriving at the island may need to use them to survive and now will not find these items. Coming from an impoverished state and lacking these items is no excuse. They new full well that they were stealing and therefore dumped some items into the sea.

If he ran that illicit business from mid 2014 to 10/2017 that is for 40 months and had 8 events per month that means 320 events. 60 million divided by 320 events makes 187,500 yen per event. That's rather meager. Are taxes levied on illicit income?

Despite only accounting for 0.6 percent of the country's land mass, Okinawa is home to about 70 percent of the total area of land exclusively used by U.S. military facilities in Japan
I think it is meant to mean that 70% of the land mass of all U.S. military facilities in Japan are located in Okinawa. It does not mean that 70% of Okinawa's land mass is used for these facilities.

Has the Fukushima accident not shown how safe the nuclear technology of the plant has been? The reactor switched off as it should have. Power generators switched on as they should to continue the cooling. Had it not been for the tsunami to reach the power generators no accident would have happened. The technology used was fit to endure an earthquake. But it should have been constructed higher up and out of reach of a tsunami. But for cost reasons that was not done. So greed caused that accident.

@Yubaru
I am tempted to burn them
Why burn them? The elephant doesn't come back to live. If you burn them the ivory is completely wasted. It may also be ivory from a deceased elephant or from a tooth of a sperm whale that stranded somewhere. And even if the ivory has a dubious history you have not participated in the actions that led to its present form.

ANA may have been able to get a good price by buying one of the A380 that Airbus had started to build for Skymark. With Skymark being unable to pay for the 6 A380s they had ordered and Airbus having a nearly ready A380 on hand built according to Skymark's ordered configuration that no one else was willing to buy it may be good deal for both sides.

@Zaphod: Disembarkation takes place on two levels of the plane. Timewise no difference to other planes. And as mentioned by others the interior of the plane is superbly quiet. No engine noise inside the plane. I used AF several times when they still used the A380 on their NRT-CDG route to experience the A380. It was superbly quiet and overall a great experience. Unfortunately AF no longer uses this model on this route. Maybe difficult to fill on a daily basis?
