I believe, If Japanese pensioners are on welfare they do not have to pay for medical treatment, only those that can afford to pay do pay.

Posted in: Top court rules losses on online horse racing bets are tax deductible See in context

Bertiewooster, “The are trying to get something for nothing” With that in mind, people should be charged for going out in the sun, or growing vegetables and then selling those vegetables should be charged proportionally. By betting on horse racing or other such there are industries that employ people and pay tax. (There are many people especially in government doing nothing productive but still get paid, is that also criminal.)

Posted in: Woman, former boyfriend arrested for abandoning body of newborn baby See in context

As much as its a crime, I am sad that people feel they can not afford to keep children. Its real that people wages, child care costs don’t seem to match when I add it up. Its not a pleasant outlook having bring a child in to poverty in a 1st world.

Posted in: Nippon Life to buy 25% of U.S. asset manager TCW from Carlyle See in context

The deal is part of

a or the

broader push by Nippon Life and other Japanese financial institutions to build scale in asset management, which they see as a promising growth-driver amid persistently low interest rates and stricter capital regulations at home.

I am still amazed at why this situation is not more common. It was and still is suprising that these places exist. Fires under and extrators intakes full of gelatinous fat covererd pipeing - ducting connected to a central fan unit and not an extinguisher in sight in a crowded multi story buiding with a narrow exit often blocked with furniture and occasionally bloted.

Posted in: The Japanese government will seek to lower the age of adulthood from 20 to 18 during the ordinary Diet session to be convened in January. Is this a good move? See in context

I can see some support for the “No” side as Japanese are seen as a little infantile. The age of leaugal sex is (15?), so it seems a bit of a dichotomy.

With out a Japanese (investment) partner there there is no way ABB wil get a foot in the door. Much like most foreign companies operating in JP, with out a retern to JP cofferes no elbow room.

Posted in: Hydrogen could deliver one fifth of world carbon cuts by 2050: industry group See in context

The same problem remains, just moved to another location. Atomic energy is still the best answer to produce electicity for this and other probelms.

“As of 1999, the majority of hydrogen (∼95%) is produced from fossil fuels by steam reforming or partial oxidation of methane and coal gasification with only a small quantity by other routes such as biomass gasification or electrolysis of water.[4] Around 8GW of electrolysis capacity is installed worldwide, accounting for around 4% of global hydrogen production (Decourt et al., 2014).”

Posted in: Abe sends ritual offering to Yasukuni Shrine for war dead See in context

Akie, with respect, you are incorrect to use this as an example if you are connecting it with the election or popularity , as this is the time of year it is done every year, and Abe has done this all his life. Remembering ones war dead is as good a reason to remind us all the reasons not to have another war.

US global power, along with Japanese quality and trust decline seems to be leaving the door wide open for China to level the playing filed, at least it seems to be sinking at one end, perhaps for the reason of budget deficits and price competition.
