You mention "Tomoko" in the middle of the report for the first time, but you don't say who Tomoko actually is.

Moderator: The story has been amended to clarify that point.

Wow! They need to make a decision… about measures that have little or no effect on the citizens. It’s like… I need to make a decision if I’m going to eat a sandwich with strawberry or quasi-strawberry jam (it’s actually raspberry).

Japan redefines "stupidity".

Well done! Common sense is not as common as it seems.

A bit of perspective for those who are worried. The UK currently has 30,000 cases a day and this is a place where pandemic restrictions have more or less finished. America has far more daily cases. 4000 a day is peanuts in comparison.

UK and USA are countries.

Tokyo is a CITY.

Guys I don't know if you have noticed but @oldman is being sarcastic here:

Tragic, the truck driver needs to pay for his gross negligence.

Zero blame should be cast on the mom, short of putting a child on a leash, there's just no way one is going to prevent a small child from running and being active without precautions.

Just saying.

@Matt Bourdein

the principal only did that job to avoid paying another driver. A case of saving money to pay herself more or bring in more money to the institution

Tell that the the mom of that boy. No matter if she was trying to save the institution by neglecting small human lives that she "contractually promised" to protect, is terrible and shows a clear lack of forethought. She should not be picking up kids only by herself in the first place.

That school should not be allowed to have any children. Such a chain of negligence is simply inexplicable.

They should be shut down. These people are a hazard without an idea of what Duty of Care is.

Japan feels like the human population in Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan). They are spoon-fed with ideologies, have nothing to say, trust the old wise men and are being played with.

worthy composer…

his Olympic spirit shines

…bullying of a mentally disabled classmate, from elementary school through high school. His torment of his peer included tying him up, trapping him in a box, duct taping a cardboard box around his head and then pouring chalk dust inside, making him eat his own feces, forcing him to walk around school with his penis exposed, and forcing him to masturbate in front of other students, among other things.

Why nobody goes to check what’s going on when you hear somebody screaming!?

Do we have to wait until somebody is beat to death?? If somebody interrupted she might have been injured but would be alive. It might be risky but what if that happened to someone in their family? Would you wait for the police to arrive?

What an apathetic approach.
