respect the referendumg and resort to endless scheming to keep the UK within the EU cleptocracy. Shameful.

No they just want a Deal Brexit not a no deal which will be disastrous for the UK economy.

Why is it that many Brexiteers think that bluffing the EU with a no deal Brexit will suddenly make them change their minds and give them the deal they want, just isnt going to happen

Superbly argued, fxgai. Dont worry about the anti-Japan crowd. Your opinion is right.

but your not right, always the "Japan bashing BS excuses" the FACTS are blue fin tuna stocks are at 3% of what they once were, nowhere near sustainable levels, especially since more countries are now eating sushi than ever before and it continues to rise. many on here should work for Japan fisheries they are really good at moving figures around to make things seem all rosy. The FACTS are tuna levels have been depleted by 97% due to overfishing, majority of blue fin tuna is bought by Japan consumed by Japanese

Maybe there is shooting fatigue in the press?

actually not fatigue just cost, many smaller news networks wont send out reporters to crime scenes unless there is around 7 or more murdered, pretty sad society when the kill count dictates whats news or not.

I pay taxes, and for my state pension and state healthcare, and it's a ton of money. I have the right to complain.

exactly!, complaining protesting forces change, unfortunately Japanese are too conditioned not too, which is why nothing changes. I cant vote in Japan yet I pay more taxes than the average Japanese salary so Ill complain whenever TFIW

No one will "lol" at the worlds 4th largest Navy. Even bigger than British Navy. Thats why SK wouldn't choose war.

and what about Russia, does Japan really think it would be a match against Russias military especially as America wouldn't step in and help if Japan instigated it. Didn't think so , time to stop acting tough and get with diplomacy sending 100s thousands to die just over a few islands and to save some face is just plain lunacy. Those that think its a good idea , well they can volunteer first , if theyre too old then they can send their kids and grandkids instead.

At least he's working on the problem, as opposed to his predecessors who did nothing.

working on the problem doing what? making demands, threats, love letters, DMZ visits. Total waste of time and money. If Trump isnt willing to give NK and major concessions then nothing Trump does will change anything except all out war. We know how many Koreas will die if that happens. Kim is better off just waiting until Trump leaves office probably have more chance to get a deal done without him

What about on Aussie Beef...which does not compare in taste and texture to American beef?

well you clearly havent eaten much Aussie beef then, Australia/NZ beef is some of the healthiest in the world, almost all grass fed cattle , not kept in massive feedlots to be fed corn and antibiotics. Almost zero outbreaks in th past 50yrs of footin mount, madcow, rabies etc. You can understand why it has a large market share in Japan.

But Toshimitsu Motegi, Japan's top negotiator, said its concessions are no larger than those under the revised TPP and other FTAs.

yep so why the need for the master negotiator to pull out of the TPP in the first place.

So basically Trump supporters; aka, American citizens exercising their right to vote in a free democratic society

a minority of American citizens, a smaller minority of eligible voters, a minority of people that actually voted. a free democratic society where you can become POTUS even when your opponent has more support from the American people.... just thought Id fix that for you.

over $100million of golf trips to Trumps resorts funded by the American taxpayer, No POTUS has profited from

his position as president as much as Trump, not even close, and he openly advertises the fact. Even when he openly criticized Obama that he wouldnt have time to play golf as hed be too busy working for the American people. These are the FACTS, now the fun part listening to the excuses from the Trumpophiles on why its perfectly fine for him to do this even though it clearly states in the constitution that POTUS cant.

Much, much cheaper US beef, pork and dairy goods taxed at same rate as CPTPP members

yep exactly Japan US FTA is almost identical to the TPP so when the need to pull out of it in the first place, now American companies have to play catch up on market share lost to its rivals. They wouldnt have lost any if they stayed in the TPP. Must be that Trump master negotiating skills we hear so much about

Posted in: Trump suggested nuking hurricanes: report See in context

used an lone anonymous source and can't even nail down when the conversation took place.

The suggestion reportedly came during a hurricane briefing with senior Homeland Security and national security officials at the White House.

Axois did not name the source but said they were in the room when the President raised the idea.

"I got it. I got it. Why don't we nuke them?" the source said, paraphrasing Mr Trump.

"They start forming off the coast of Africa, as they're moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it."

The source told Axios the person briefing the President said he would "look into that", with the suggestion astonishing those in the room.

Mr Trump brought up the hurricane-nuking idea a second time with a senior official, an exchange which the Axios report said was recorded in a 2017 National Security Council memo.

The White House declined to comment on the Axios story, with an official telling the outlet the government did not comment on the President's private discussions.

Another unnamed source told Axios the idea was no cause for alarm and showed the US leader was willing to "ask tough questions".

Such deal marked the death of Japanese farmers!

wrong Japanese farmers marked their own deaths by not becoming competitive and expect the J taxpayer to contiue to give them handouts to survive. Japanese agriculture accounts for less than 1% of Japans economy yet consumes over 6% of the annual budget. If I received than much free cash from the J government for my business Id be retiring early.

Sounds like this is way better for the U.S than TPP.

but its not , Japan clearly stated that they would lower US tariffs any lower than what other TPP members have, and they havent , just a bit of tweaking here and there to make it look like Trump had a big win, which he clearly hasn't . Hardly any different than if he stayed in the TPP

Take the "fat runt" running North Korea, put him in a short box and send him out into space!

sound great in theory, but problem is one on Kims crazed generals just may step up and take his place and have no problem using the nukes they have or raining 10s thousands of artillery rounds onto Seoul. Would be nice if real world politics was as easy as in the movies.

It will further push for the sanctions to remain and for the President to keep his foot on Kim’s neck.

how is Trump's foot on his neck that would suggest Kim cannot move, hes still launching missiles, still has his nukes and still Trumps BFF. nothing's changed, nothing to see, despite all the visits all the love letters and Trump profiting from taxpayer funded trips to Mar A Lago for a games of golf and chocolate cake. maybe time for a new excuse that hasnt been done to death.

However, Trump will give the UK a deal with an economy bigger than China and Japan combined and which has 300 million people, with room for another 300!

China will surpass the US within 30 yrs and those that make enemies of them will be left out of a Chinese middle class market that exceeds the entire US population. People just have to come to realise especially many in the US that China isnt the pushover it once was.

This just in - the U.S. has reached a trade deal with Japan.

yep and its hardly any different than the TPP so why the need to pull out of it in the first place

China had better get with the program.

why Trump is doing all the work for them, when Trump orders all American companies out of China and all lose all the profits they make selling in China, those other countries can take their place. When that self inflicted recession hits, Trump can do his best to weasel his way out of the mess hes left of the global economy. China playing the long game, no matter what Trump throws at them theyll still be there long after Trumps gone
