Somehow the vaccine can provide a psychological or mental leeway to lessen the overall paranoia over the virus.

Everything should be discouraged in order to lessen the spread of the Covid19 infections. Everything! As in EVERYTHING!!! Is there anything in the world today that is being encouraged to be done that we normally did before-Covid19? NOTHING!!! Everything is being discouraged!

Very sad an alarming news because I used to work at schools and most of my former students still belong to this age bracket. I was actually worried how some of them would cope up when schools were temporarily shut down last year for a couple of months. Hopefully none of them had contributed to this statistics.

It's nothing new and I have a couple of friends and even one boss who have taken their respective wiffe's family name. In anime culture, we also have Sazae-san as a prime example, so people don't really find it strange here in Japan.

Before Covid-19, the Japanese economy was partly being fed by unnecessary consumptions. That is why despite its impressive image of being "hard working" and "disciplined" the country is not at par with other advanced economies when it comes to "happiness index". Too much money is being spent on worthless after-work tsukiai instead of spending time with family through family vacation or whatnot.

If Trump had won the election, there would be more focus on negative news being reported by mass media.

This is nothing but Mori's dream to enrich himself, and how painful it must be for him to see it being shoveled down the drain...

Mass media are partly to be blamed because they have reached a point of glamorizing suicides of famous people.

Why are there people here contemplating that cases will soar higher because of the three-day long weekend? Guys, can that be worse than people commuting on trains because of work?

So a typical Japanese marriage. Any kids? I wonder if such workaholics can understand the life of average citizens.
They have three sons, as mentioned in the article... The "rarely, if ever, slept at their home" happened only in recent years due to his status in the political echelon of Japan. That does not speak of a "typical" marriage here because I know far more Japanese old couples who still live together and are of the same age as Mr. Suga and his wife.
Yes, like you, I do worry if workaholic political figures can understand the life of average citizens.

actually, they will just recycle them to other industries because fresh replenishment to supply the starving labor market cannot enter japan due to the pandemic.

I can say that my best ever summer travel in Japan was in 2006, when my friend and I did a road trip and camping at the Shimanami Kaido. That's the first time I knew about the Murakami Kaizoku. I actually remembered them as Murakami Suigun, the "Pirates of Setonaikai"...
