The Olympic bid was won with a bribe so it's all very fitting

He's in the US military so the Japanese police will have to turn him over to the American MP's.

How I miss Mr Suga and Mr Noda as they were the only two PM's IMO who actually cared and did anything for the country rather than just securing their reelection.

Posted in: Japan quiet on possible yen-buying market intervention See in context

The stealth intervention last night was bought up with many more attempts to break through the 150 and then 155 range to come. MOF and BOJ lack justification as it's pure yield differential fundamentals at play. Friday should be interesting with payroll # coming out. The irony is the more they intervene, the weaker the yen as they deplete their dollars reserves. Bunch of clowns at work here!

Posted in: Kishida unveils gist of new economic package as support for his government dwindles See in context

Rebalancing the country's finances and normalizing monetary policy would restore confidence in the yen which in turn would help with all the crazy inflation being imported. Accepting the reality of the fiscal and monetary situation is a first good step

Posted in: Bank of Japan sticks to ultra-loose monetary policy See in context

Hyperinflation vs asset bubble popping are the two options on the table. This is a repeat of what happened in the late 80's- early 90's. History doesn't always repeat but it sure does rhythm.

Posted in: Kishida pledges to set up special zones to boost foreign investment See in context

With one of the lowest percentage of (FDI) foreign direct investment in the WHOLE world, Kishida might want to address the issues as to why that is, first.

Posted in: Kishida to visit New York next week for U.N. General Assembly See in context

Seems a bit like a page out of Shinzo Abe's book by going on an overseas PR campaign. The difference is the economy is in the gutter with the average family feeling much poorer than just a decade ago.

Posted in: Companies drop Johnny's agency talent after sex abuse scandal See in context

Good to see that companies are sending the right message. The new Johnny and Associate's president is alleged to have committed similar offenses as Mr Kitagawa as being reported by the BBC. Basically swapping one for another. Nothing seems to amaze me here anymore.

Posted in: Gov't stresses BOJ's independence after Ueda's remarks sway market See in context

Debt and fiscal responsibility does matter. Hyperinflation vs asset price bubble popping are the two choices on the table. Kind of feel bad for Ueda as he inherited this mess from Kuroda.

Posted in: SoftBank supremo eyes rare success with Arm IPO See in context

Desperate for cash as he's leveraged up on loads of losing positions/investments. Strange that they are allowing an IPO of only 10 percent of all outstanding ARM shares. Would not touch with a ten foot pole.

Posted in: Japan, China spar over import ban after Fukushima water release See in context

Don't understand why Kishida is pushing so hard on the issue as there are legitimate concerns over the long term safety/ effects. Let market dynamics play out plus more affordable seafood for the Japanese public if indeed that it is completely safe.
