Posted in: Ohio governor signs bill limiting bathroom use by transgender students See in context

Sick, gotta love politicians who waste their time drafting pointless bills that only affect like 7 people in their state instead of actually working towards putting more food on the table for all of their constituents. First it was racial discrimination, but they lost, then it turned into hating gays, but they lost on that too, and now we have to deal with this constant yapping about transgender people that'll eventually get replaced by another minority group once they realize they lost on that as well. How fun, maybe one day they'll learn how to properly serve the public instead of having to lean on culture war issues that have no real material impact.

Imagine your dog gets beat to death with a bat, then one day you're playing baseball with your buddy and he says "Fix your form so you can hit the ball as hard as your dog got hit." I'd be understandably angry too lmao how are people defending that??

Posted in: U.N. demand for Gaza cease-fire provokes strongest clash between U.S. and Israel since war began See in context

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused the U.S. of “retreating” from a “principled position” by allowing the vote to pass without conditioning the cease-fire on the release of hostages held by Hamas.

Netanyahu is right and Israel has the right to continue its war against terrorism. This is one of the wars in history and Israel has carefully shot its own civilian hostages after confusing them for Hamas members, with the result that there is basically a 1:1 ratio of IDF members and brain cells among them.

The UN has had an it's bad to bomb a bunch of innocent women and children before posting TikToks dancing on their graves slant for decades anyway so of course Israel isn't going to pay attention to this silly resolution.

Posted in: Same-sex couples appeal high court ruling rejecting compensation See in context

I have nothing against gay couples being together and wishing to have their relationship recognised, but suggest that another word be used for this. “Marriage” carries with it a set of male-female vocabulary that doesn't work in a same-sex context. Husband/wife, etc. Wouldn't "civil partnership" work better?

It actually kinda does work. If you are married to a man, you call them your husband. If you are married to a woman, you call them your wife. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe heterosexual couples do the same.

Of course I don't support it! When I want to connect with nature and spend time at the park, the first thing I want is to drown my lungs in second-hand smoke like God intended.

Police said the suspect, Ryusei Morita, a company employee, has denied the charge and quoted him as saying he and the girl engaged in sex with her consent and that he didn't force her, Kyodo News reported. Police said he also claimed not to know the girl’s age.

She can't consent, she's a minor.

Saying you didn't know her age just makes you look even more irresponsible, terrible excuse.

Diddling kids is wrong. There's really no way around it, nor any justification.

Posted in: Japan society on transgender issues to drop 'disorder' from name See in context

I absolutely love how science has come to understand this stuff more and more over time, has shifted the narrative accordingly, and people somehow still can't get behind it. I mean, we used to think that writing with your left hand was demonic. Some countries don't even allow gay marriage yet, but we understand that there is nothing wrong with it. Suddenly this logic doesn't apply to transgender people? Totally weird, try actually interacting with a trans person and you'll quickly realize that your biases are blinding you to the issue.

It's baffling how we, as a labor force, are reaching levels of productivity never imagined, never getting to experience the fruits of that labor, yet we continue advocating for the status quo. Meanwhile, those at the top who aren't an active part in that labor get to earn hundreds to thousands times more than those below them. It's depressing and I hope we see some drastic changes in our lifetimes.

Posted in: Pressure grows on Israel to open more aid routes into Gaza by land and sea as hunger spreads See in context

Concerned by the lack of access to food, the United States, Jordan and other nations have begun making air drops of aid in recent days, but aid groups say only a fraction of the needed assistance can be delivered by air.

Because Hamas steals the food.

You've been making claims that all Palestinians are Hamas, but now you're saying that Palestinians are starving because Hamas is stealing the food. How does one manage to steal their own food? That's not very consistent reasoning.

Posted in: Palestinians say Israeli troops fired at people seeking food; Israel says scene was deadly stampede See in context

I don't understand why IDF soldiers would even fear for their lives to the point of opening such a heavy amount of fire on hundreds of people. Palestinians are literally starving and supplies are incredibly limited, of course huge crowds of them are going to rush in to get whatever they possibly can. They're there to survive, not try to kill a bunch of clearly-armed soldiers. Somebody could sneeze in the direction of an IDF solider and it'd prompt them to freak out and start shooting, complete incompetence.

Posted in: Israel, Hamas indicate no deal is imminent after Biden signals Gaza cease-fire could be close See in context

Two infants died from dehydration and malnutrition at Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza City, said the spokesman for Gaza’s Health Ministry, Ashraf al-Qidra. He warned that infant mortality threatens to surge.

Their blood is on Biden and Blinken's hands

Why? Those American politicians have nothing to do with healthcare in Gaza.

Who is responsible for the deaths of children in Syria? No one cares about that? An actual major conflict with actual civilian casualties.

Nearly 13,000 children have been killed or injured since the start of the war in Syria.

Why would they not be responsible? Their weapons are what facilitated this entire mess to begin with. Trying to defend warmongers with whataboutisms and implying that the vast majority of Palestinian casualties aren't civilians is lazy. Can't say I'm too surprised as it's part of the IDF playbook to frame every civilian as either an actual Hamas member or as a family member of one in order to justify the carnage.
