This Jar-head, has messed it up for Americans, particularly military in Japan, although the JN authorities will fry him, but it wont be enough, understanding the JN culture , it will be brought up for decades.
Trump will probably have to come back, bow down and apologize for it, if he will, and the wing nuts will start doing what they do...and more curfews, and more trip advisories, and alerts will go out.

""The murder case has sparked (Major) native public anger"
I saw on the web where a US black guy was approached-putting it mildly, for what happened in this case , although he had nothing to do with it. Also in the video he said after that scary incident he went to Singapore. "

"Japan stuck between hawkish U.S., provocative N Korea"
hawkish = advocating an aggressive or warlike policy, especially in foreign affairs.
US ain't hawkish, your distant primordial relations- kim dung ill is... and these days of white supremacy under Trump, the US which is a white man's country always has been, ask your women,, will annihilate as old former president L. B. Johnson alluded to any asian boys who get in the way now policy. Japan should know this more than any Asian country. What did Theodore "Dutch" Van Kirk say "the question is not how many did we kill, but did we kill enough" The White man rules the world that includes you too Japan, you just never read the fine print.

"The 'downstairs monster neighbor' is becoming relatively common in Japan."
I once had an "upstairs monster neighbor" who sounded like he was running, jumping up and down almost every day.AND other strange sounds such as loud ramblings , and the dropping of something heavy on the floor. It had become so irritating., that I would wear ear plugs. Luckily I was able to get base housing to relocate me, quickly.i thanks for letting me share.

"'m curious to know how he was reselling them. Was he selling them on the internet or just taking them to Hard Off? I thought all bicycles had to be registered. Wouldn't this make theft an impossibility? Or, is the registration only to generate revenue and to give the cops something to do?""
"Police in Toyama City have arrested an unemployed 44-year-old man on suspicion of stealing and then reselling more than 30 expensive bicycles." Looks like they left out no fixed address, and surprisingly it remembers.
