"really close to the now declared safe, recently restarted Sendai nuclear plant. 144 km by road, probably 50 miles as the crow flies"

Unfortunately, for earthquakes that kind of distance is nothing for seismic waves to travel and very quickly...indeed very parlous prospects for that nuke plant location.

"Coming to Japan is like the 5 stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance."

that's right!

Ah yes not to mention the phantom vandalizer, the untimely sanitation collectors, and the inconvenient postal receipt leavers.

Welcome to Japan.

"Japan, which accepted just 11 asylum seekers out of 5,000 applications last year, will provide about $810 million in aid in response to refugees fleeing Syria and Iraq, "

Let the truth be told:

The majority are Muslims....more have been going and are going to Malaysia, and Indonesia, where they feel more comfortable, and have access to Islamic culture. Malaysian govt provides them huge benefits, and there are tons of Mosques, and Middle eastern stores and restaurants. AND they can open up and run businesses much easier than in Japan..

In a tiny country like Japan:

"the Yakuza (893) is able to continue to operate legally in plain sight, is because the Japanese Government, the Royal Family, the 10 largest industrialist families, and the Yakuza are all one in the same."

no wonder millions of yens are wisely spent for charitie, huge technology spending, military spending, mental illness facilities, planned parenthood, not to mention Myagi, Iwate, Fukushima, and Okinawa can get so much help and benefits.

Of course its not only a Japan thang

"The system will more than likely offer self-defense based on child abuse and will probably get released back into the community after serving a stint in a psychiatric hospital."

Good point, upon release for such horrendous acts, the medical RFID chip should be available.

Who knows how many have been released back out into the mainstream or minor stream of Japanese society with the high probability to "smap" again at the slightest or inadvertent stimulus.
