Like other Japanese women at this age, she obviously has a misguided view of the reality of marriage and life in general. If she marries just because she's turning 30, I'll lay money on a divorce within 10 years!

Of course there's looting going on! But you won't see it reported in any great detail - can't have the world knowing the truth about many Japanese minds!

Posted in: Man held for assaulting neighbor over bouncing soccer ball dispute See in context

Kawashima has confessed to attacking and injuring Takeda, who was taken to hospital in an unconscious state. Kawashima was quoted by police as saying: “I intended to kill him.”

a) How was he taken to hospital in an unconscious state, if he went home after being hit and brought his father round to the man's house? Makes absolutely no sense and I think either the father told the boy to act on it and therefore should be arrested for wasting police time.

b) The neighbour saying he intended to kill him is a red flag. This guy needs locking up for the safety of everyone!

c) I somewhat sympathise with the guy though...my neighbour's kid used to bounce their ball outside my house every day for a year...the katana came off the wall a few times (the desire to slice the ball up was strong). Now it's just their yappy frickin' poodle that annoys the crap out of me!

If you don't know how to use a Smartphone or have preconceived ideas about viruses etc, then you don't deserve to have one.

Posted in: NEET spouse in the house not such a neat arrangement See in context

If he 'expects' his wife to cook dinner, then he needs a swift kick up the rear! My wife, while being a great cook, is NOT here for my whims! I would never ask her to cook for me, or act "like a wife should". Any man who disagrees is an idiot!

Made by NHK - ergo, likely to be full of falsities, hyped up to be more dramatic than needed and a waste of fee payers' money!

Posted in: If Hamaoka is potentially deadly, what about all the other nuclear reactors? See in context

When they talked about building a nuclear reactor in the town where I live, back in 2004, the whole area saw a sudden exodus of businesses, large and small. When, a year later they rescinded their decision to build it, it was too late, and now the town is a virtual ghost town.

Posted in: Insular Toyota should listen to outsiders See in context

I've had Toyota, Honda and now Nissan. Toyota staff were just plain rude, ignorant and treated me like I was stupid. Which is why I'll never own another Toyota car ever again!

Honda was great customer interaction, but just one time, had me pay for a job that wasn't done properly.

Nissan have gone above and beyond service and so far, have taken great care of me and my Z.

Toyota would do well to get back to ground roots with its customers, worldwide!

Too late Yahoo. Years of being spammed led me away from you 3 years ago!

New version doesn't support Chrome, which is just stupid.

Pardon? Chrome is complete rubbish, just another gimmick to get pea-brained net users to initiate more clicks!

Posted in: Woman’s body found under house floor in Aomori; neighbor arrested See in context

I'm assuming ''floor boards'' = tatami, as it would be near impossible for the perpetrator to kill, lift up actual wooden floor boards, hide the body, and then nail them back down. A tatami mat is relatively easy to move.

Posted in: Driver pleads guilty in Utah bus crash that killed 3 Japanese See in context

7 hours sleep is NOT sleep deprivation!! Have they even checked the bus for mechanical failure? No mention of it. Accidents happen, and that is all this seems to be. I find it difficult to understand why prosecutors are allowed to 'bargain' away with someone's life, in order to fill their own egos!

Legally in Japan you have to have the same last name unless one of the spouses is a foreigner. Then you can keep whatever name you want.

I don't know where you get your info, but you're waaaaay wrong!! If you marry, you don't have a choice but to change your name. You can call yourself whatever you like, but legally, your name changes.

And erm, no, she isn't sexy at all!

Posted in: Why do tourists continue to stay away from Japan, despite the fact that there are many places of interest far away from the crisis-affected areas? What should Japanese tourism officials do to promote See in context

Why don't more tourists come here? Simple: You can go anywhere in Japan and see a temple, shrine or historical area. The fact is, they all have a similar history, virtually look the same and offer nothing tantalizing for global travelers!

The cost of the airfare alone to get to Japan is ridiculously high. It might help if airlines started to advertise prices as FULL prices, instead of smacking them with all the fess and taxes after a quote! Been here 12 years now and although I love living here, Japan needs to rethink its stance on tourism, but you can only do so much. And I don't think just because food is different in one prefecture to another, is a viable reason for someone to want to spend $5,000 on travel, hotels, etc. Unless you're Gordon Ramsey, then you're going to receive limited entertainment.

I'm wondering how he became a ''high ranking practitioner'' of Shorinji Kempo and still did this? I've been praticing Shorinji for ten years, and the very first thing I learned was that you NEVER throw the first punch and you certainly never attack someone weaker than you, unless in complete self-defense. Sounds like this guy needs to be given a few taps on the head himself!

Posted in: Do you think sporting, entertainment and cultural events scheduled for the next few weeks should be canceled out of respect for the victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami? See in context

I agree with everyone else above. This is a time to help people and especially those victims of the disaster area, who need these events to keep their mind off their surroundings and the coming months. The rest of the country, and indeed, the world, is mourning with them enough...we need to keep positive and sports and cultural events is just one way to keep this going.

Posted in: Rise in number of empty houses a growing problem for Tokyo See in context

Could have something to do with the ridiculously high rental prices in Tokyo. For $700 a month in Yamaguchi, I have a clean and quiet neighborhood, a large house, a large garden and very low crime rate. For the same price in Shinjuku, my friend has a room that if you hold a golf club out straight and try to move in a circle, you hit every wall. WTF is up with that?!!
