Posted in: Taiji fishermen vow to continue dolphin slaughter See in context

I heard Japanese commentators on some of the Sunday morning panel shows laugh about "Westerners's obsession and overreaction when it comes to whales and dolphins". One of the explanations to which everyone in the studio nodded approvingly was that this is nothing more than an emotional reaction because dolphins are presumably "cute and smart". The discussion was closed by the question, "Why nobody protests against the killing of octupi? Probably because they are not cute." ...So it's all about cuteness as usual :)

Since the article discusses beautiful and unique hidden train stations, it wouldn't have hurt to see a photo of each station. A picture is worth a thousand words.

The personal contact will remain unchanged. The only difference would be that this one hopefully won't get nervous when approached by a gaijin.

Nearly 30 years have passed, and Sagawa, now age 65, currently lives alone in a small (1LDK) apartment in Kawasaki City.

So where exactly in Kawasaki City? ...one might wonder.

MacArthur did not describe Japan as "nation of 12-year-olds", at least not in the sense of the Japanese being infantile. Here is what he actually said:

If the Anglo-Saxon was say 45 years of age in his development, in the sciences, the arts, divinity, culture, the Germans were quite as mature. The Japanese, however, in spite of their antiquity measured by time, were in a very tuitionary condition. Measured by the standards of modern civilization, they would be like a boy of twelve as compared with our development of 45 years.

You are right, you're not my mate, I apologize for my casual manners.

Finally, if the Eastern Ukranians want independence, that is fine. But they should not claim it based on an armed takeover financed, supplied and led by Russia.*

Independence movements are usually (almost always) armed and use support from outside, since by definition the group wanting indepence would normally be a minority without sufficient resources. The US has financed many such efforts but only where the dictatorship in the respective country was not a pro-US one. I can follow up with multiple specific examples from South America and the Middle East if you are interested.

And not at the expense of 298 harmless people who died simply because these supposed "freedom fighters" decided to shoot first and ask questions later.

It is not yet clear who shot down plane. You are free to believe whatever you like but the separatists certainly have nothing to gain from shooting down a civil plane and obviously lack the equipment to distinguish between civil and military aircraft. Whoever did not close the airspace over a military conflict zone should take responsibility.

There is no such thing as "the Donetsk Republic"...

Maybe but there is a thing called the right of self-determination, mate. As far as Serbs are concerned, there is no such thing as the Republic of Kosovo either but with US/NATO support it went through. The vast majority of Eastern Ukrainians are ethnically Russian and if they want independence I don't see why they should not have it?! Or only ethnic groups blessed by the US are legit?

If you really are an aerospace engineer, it would seem to me that the Russians have already won the space race.
