Police in Hiroshima City have arrested an 80-year-old woman on suspicion of killing her 55-year-old son by strangling him.
According to police, Kazuko Kiyohara turned herself in at a police box in Naka Ward at around 6:55 p.m. Monday and said: "I killed my son at a riverbank,” NTV reported.
Police went to the scene and found the body of the woman’s son, Tsuyoshi, unconscious, on the bank of the Kyobashi River. He was taken to hospital where he died about 90 minutes later.
Police said Tsuyoshi had marks around his neck that looked like he had been strangled with a thin cord.

These kinds of stories are heartbreaking, aren't they? You'd think that after so many years, family members would have learned how to bury the hatchet by now and to finish their lives peacefully (or at least not by murdering one another before departure from this life).

Very unusual that an 80yr old lady would have the strength to strangle a man 25yrs her junior...... is there some key part of the story missing?
