Man arrested after assaulting 81-year-old father with hammer

Police in Yokohama have arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he hit his 81-year-old father with a hammer.

According to the police, Seiichi Iwasaki hit his father, Teruo, who lives with him, multiple times on the head at around 2:20 p.m. Sunday at their home in Midori Ward, TBS reported.

Teruo called 119 himself and was taken to hospital. Police said he suffered a fractured skull.
