Body found in drum on recycling company's premises

The body of an unidentified elderly woman was found inside a drum at a recycling company in Yoshikawa City, Saitama Prefecture, on Friday.

According to police, the body had been in the drum for some time, and had no external injuries on it, NHK reported.

An employee of the recycling company called police at around 4 p.m. after he saw a human leg inside the drum which was about 60 cm in diameter and 90 cm deep.

Police said the body was clothed and covered with a blue tarp. They said an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The drum was one of several collected by the recycling company on Thursday. It was picked up from a trunk room in Tokorozawa after the company received a disposal request from the trunk room operator due to unpaid storage fees since February.

Gruesome stuff. It will be pretty impressive if the police can identify the body and find the culprit(s) responsible for their death and disposal of the body.

Whatever it is. Whatever happened. This is saddening to somebody and somebody's family.

Crime on the rise due to numerous factors, mainly tied to Yen's collapse in purchasing power fueling inflation, and this individual was clearly not dealing with civilized society

BTW, I just saw this story on NHK News, and it clearly showed a storage facility where the body was found, not a recycling company.

I know that, in Japan, "recycling company" would mean a company that sells used goods, as opposed to one that processes materials for recycling.

But, that still isn't a storage facility, which is called a "trunk room", here.

Japanese homicide crime has been falling year-on-year since the 1990s. Nothing to do with the "Yen collapse".
