Yes he loves an era when most Americans died from overwork in the fields.

I don't think US businesses want to go back to exports being 3% of gdp.

Trump loves Gilded Age and its tariffs.

Not really surprising that a robber baron loves the era when robber barons ruled America and ruthlessly exploited its population for their own gain. Only difference is, people used to hate robber barons. Now there's a very vocal minority of insane people actively cheering for them.

USA about to see "The Law of Unintended Consequences " break across the ship of state.

No one surprised what the Clown in Chief does anymore.

Hope...I will complement you and fellow travelers for outstanding and unwavering MAGA commitment.

No half measures, no fence sitting, no maybe's .....its almost a passion , an addiction, a mental illness...no...too strong...I withdraw that....

Plus its early days so don't exhaust everything before even one year is up !

Trump's been barking about unfair trade practices for many decades, that resulted in 'de-industrialization' of the US, probably the CORE reason took a strong interest in politics, starting in 1980s and why he ran for President.

Too many in US, Trump's political enemies, profited by selling out US workers and companies and so here we are, DJT's US Trade "Reciprocity" finally becoming reality.

We'll learn LOTS in days ahead, expect MANY countries to lower their tariffs as result of DJT and in doing so help lower Global Inflation and Increase Economic Growth!

He has been in office less than two months, and already taking the USA down the road of destruction.

Ah, the Gilded Age. And the British version, the Edwardian Era. Where the aristocracy, either titled or monied, led the world to its first all encompassing war.

And, not learning the lesson of that war, proceeded to give us the Great Depression and then WWII.

Good times. Not.

The relatively recent rash of free trade agreements have led directly to the highest levels of inequality today since the 19th century. The protectionism and national industrial policies of the immedately postwar era were the foundation of America's true "gilded age."

The relatively recent rash of free trade agreements have led directly to the highest levels of inequality today since the 19th century.

In the 19th century the life expectancy was under 50. I suspect this was not because farmers were living the high life.

The protectionism and national industrial policies of the immedately postwar era were the foundation of America's true "gilded age."

What protectionism and national industrial policies were those? The postwar era saw the Marshall Plan and GATT. The US was the only country not devastated by WW2 so all of those years from 1945 - 1980 are suspect.
