Police in Osaka have arrested a 43-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after he chased a 15-year-old high school boy riding a bicycle and then crashed into him.
Police said Toshitaka Kuniyasu, of unknown occupation, is accused of chasing the boy who was cycling with two friends in Hirano Ward for about 200 meters in his car at around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Sankei Shimbun reported.
Kuniyasu rammed the boy’s bike from behind, causing it to crash into a nearby utility pole. The boy suffered a minor shoulder injury.
According to police, Kuniyasu had been in an argument with the boys just before the incident. He was quoted as saying, "I was angry because one of the boys made fun of me, so I followed him in my car with the intention to scare him, but I had no intention of killing him."

How old are you dumbass?
JeffLee
Somehow, I don't think the guy was unjustified.
Speed
I know how he felt.

Not saying what he did was right but there's no smoke without fire.
@Japan Glimpsed
Kid makes fun of man, man rams into kid with car. Justified @JeffLee.
@Japan Glimpsed
So what are you saying?
@Japan Glimpsed
There is more to the story- a bit more, yes. The suspect was walking when the argument with the boys occurred.

Driving is not only a privilege but with responsibility, young boys are young boys always playing around but being an adult we are in the right mind to adjust kids, tailing them with your car is not safe and the intention is to hurt not to scare and that is considered a crime in Japanese law he should be put behind bars what he did.

NOTHING can justified anyone to chased a child and crashed his car into him. In this case, the car in a weapon. Attempted murder would be correct for my uneducated opinion.

He is saying there is no smoke without fire.

The man is mental and could have killed his victim. A grown man acting like a juvenile delinquent himself, it defies belief doesn’t it.
@Japan Glimpsed
Ahh. Much obliged.

Basically George Zimmerman's defense in the slaying of Trayvon Martin. Old enough to remember?

Please don't tell me you are unaware of even the possibility ramming a bike with a car might cause the biker's death. And if you do, you already have conditional intent. Now that this point of law is clarified, I suggest pleading guilty and hoping you'd get a punishment in the lower range (the kid didn't die, was apparently not seriously or permanently injured).

when overgrown "old child" is behind car wheel...
Chico3
Is that the updated term for "unemployed"?
Fighto!
LOL @ all the thin skinned people. Imagine going through life always snapping like a twig at every perceived slight.
Only a VERY insecure and unhinged person would react in such a way if "made fun of" by a teenager.
This loser is going to prison.

Maybe a bit more to it.. Young kids pee me off sometimes when they are doing 'high speed' jaunts all over the road. A 43yr old should be awre that is 600kg, 1300kg? lump of metal is a killing machine. Attempted manslaughter, fortunately only a minor shoulder injury (and the defense will argue that the dangerous driver 'did not strike the utility pole). WHY DO WE HAVE THE TIME TO COMMENT ON THIS??

High school boys are just boys. Regarding the time I don't care who knows what they did.
A grown up who feels angry because of school boys needs to ask how he was in his younger years. What an idiot to use a car as tool.

No reason for this situation to have occurred. Boys don’t belong out causing trouble at that hour and old men out at that hour are usually liquored up and should be home in bed too. Unless they were in their uniforms, he probably thought they were older and list his temper. Attempted murder sounds excessive. Not hard to attempt with a car on a bicycle.

Using a car as a weapon?
Not justified…

I understand the feeling. I have confronted people who were talking about me several times, gave them a good tongue lashing in Japanese and went on my way, leaving them shocked that a foreigner could actually understand what they were saying. That said, you absolutely cannot run down a kid on a bicycle and ram him. He could have died. I mean, the kid crashed into a utility pole! It's good fortune he wasn't badly injured. Throw the book at this fool.

Sure, you're not saying what he did was right but you are clearly implying that he may have been justified. You can't have it both ways and there is no justification for what he did. He was in a car, which would have weighed at least a ton and capable of going over 100 kph. The boy was on a bicycle. All the man had to do was drive away or even just sit in his car until the boy was gone. He also had the option of calling the police if he felt he was in danger. He took the absolute wrong action and is only lucky the boy wasn't seriously injured.

So what? He was able to get in, start up and drive his car. Clearly his life wasn't in any serious danger.
