The Russian government wants to earmark 32.5% of its spending next year for defense, a record amount and up from a reported 28.3% this year, as Moscow seeks to prevail in the war in Ukraine.

Who still thinks that Putin wants peace?

Russia’s forces are bigger and better-equipped than Ukraine’s

How did we go from Russia losing all it's tanks and having to pull WW2 tanks out of museums to suddenly the Russian army being better equipped than Zelensky's army which has been given 300 billion in NATO weapons?

Hint: The western media misled the public when it said 2 years ago that it was a "full-scale" invasion and that the Russians lost all their men and equipment.

The experts in the West surely knew that 90% of Russia's army was not even engaged at the beginning and was being held in reserve, but they omitted this very important fact to drum up support for the a war whose outcome was inevitable.

We don’t. It’s still junk with replacement junk flowing in from Iran and DORK.

Mini-me is going to bankrupt his country over a war he isn’t going to win.

4 ( +12 / -8 )

It’s still junk with replacement junk flowing in from Iran and DORK.

So either junk from Iran and DORK is better than $300 billion in NATO weapons

or

The article is false when is specifically said that the Russian army is "better equipped"

"We are crushing the Ukrainian forces who so evilly attacked us two years ago, they started it, they did! It's their fault! But we're beating them back and just to prove it we're going to use an entire third of our budget to protect ourselves!"

Well, well, well ....

Looking outside of Moscow people don't have water toilets.

People don't have baths or at least showers.

Roads are nothing else but "rollbahns".

A sewer system doesn't exist.

Most areas WIFI never heard of.

But Putain wants to spend more and more money for his aggressions and invasions.

What a great leader!!

Putin has ruined his country ,for what reason I cannot begin to fathom .But the Russian people need to wake up fast and get rid of him somehow

6 ( +12 / -6 )

How did we go from Russia losing all it's tanks and having to pull WW2 tanks out of museums to suddenly the Russian army being better equipped ....

The article doesn't mention Russia's pathetic tanks. The gist is that Russia needs to spend a third of its annual budget to fight an enemy that's one quarter the size of itself, while it's had to hike its interest rates to 19% to fight rampant inflation at home.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

Probably by spending a third of the national budget on it, and neglecting the Russian people and their needs?

You forgot to add that bears with balalaika walk around the streets of Russian cities :), and children in schools are given vodka for lunch. But seriously, the one thing I miss when I come to Tokyo or Paris is cheap, affordable high-speed Russian Internet. But it is unlikely that you will be able to verify this. because you don't even know where the country of Russia is on the map. However, you don't know anything about Ukraine either

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

You mean the ones that don't sink in the mud like the Abrams and Leopards? Great in Iraq but not so good in the Autumn mud in the Dombas.

It's not anymore a problem of guilt, who is bigger or who started. They are both just throwing their future and existence away. Killing own youth by sending to frontline will soon turn out suicidal for both. If they are taken over by former Caucasian Soviet Era republics, other central Asians, India, China, or more probably by North African Arabs or Africans, that is not exactly predictable, but it will happen by any of them or a combination. It's recommended they end their stupid brother war immediately and care a lot better about their young generations instead of slaughtering them at the front.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

The Russians are paying for the war with many tens of thousands killed on the frontline.

Yet they still own all the superior NATO gamechangers.....what gives?

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Well, how many NATO tanks did Ukraine get? Not many. Neither side seems to have had much success with tanks though.

You are not facing NATO stealth bombers. Ukraine isn't able to glide bomb it's way to glory like Russia.

One side is at some risk of losing its independence and territory. Ukraine has to continue fighting until Putin is humbled.

Well the BBC had a report based just on the 70k names they could verify. Those are just the ones the incompetents in the Kremlin couldn't cover up.

Russia near to the victory..

-6 ( +5 / -11 )

So we give Ukraine F-16s and they let them be destroyed on the ground, barely used?

Everything would be fine, but I can't understand how the BBC was able to verify 70 thousand names :) This is a hard work that requires a lot of time! Therefore, such a number cannot be called relevant. On what day was this number named? What year is it? The BBC verified the Russian losses, but couldn't do it for Ukrainisns ?

Don't talk nonsense :)

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation called the losses of Ukrainians in the Kursk direction about 19 thousand Ukrainians since the beginning of their offensive on the Kursk region. And what do your competent sources say?

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

3 years of begging for F-16s.

we can’t win the war without them! It only you would give them.

now they are already gone. Do they just ask for more again with the same excuse of not having them?

Yesterday was indeed Reunification Day, with local folk flying flags from cars, honking horns, festivals with traditional dancing, singing, food and drink, special kid's events. Red Square in Moscow hosted an outdoor concert as part of the wider Time-of-Heroes program, which observes distinguished participants of the ongoing military operation, with yesterday's focus on notable Donbass forces and figures, who have been in the fight since 2014.

Moot point. NATO is not at war with Russia as they keep telling us.

Overnight marked the 33rd consecutive night of strikes on AFU strategic rear areas.

The jacked-up defense spending is exactly why DM Belousov - an economist - was appointed and was a big change of gears; this was widely but predictably misunderstood at the time by certain quarters.

Russia is losing 1,400 troops / day.

Also, Vuhledar is folding and fully enveloped; important stronghold in the south-Donetsk sector of the front. Will tie up the south end of the Pokrovsk line and push secure RFAF logistics (by pushing AFU out of artillery range of rail and road junctions).

They've kept a lid on news of it so as not to mar the US/UN trip mentioned.

Ukraine has to continue fighting until Putin is humbled.

Yep, that's what the western pro-war propagandists continue to say...keep fighting until the last Ukrainian to "humble Putin". Moreover the goal of strategically weakening Russia is more important than Ukrainian lives to them. As they say - it's a great deal for the US and NATO.

And I'm sure that will have a legacy much like the Beer Hall Putsch holiday.

The animal isn't backing down until he is humbled. It's existential for Ukraine.

Of course he doesn't. Why do you think he invaded Ukraine in the first place?

My my my what a difference those UN sanctions are making. Putin is getting really desperate now. Jacking up defense spending (quite a marked contrast from those good ol' USSR days), drafting men in their 40s and 50s, buying drones from 'puny' Iran. And the Ukes have been hitting Russia back with robot drone attacks/

In a matter of a few months, it'll be another lonely Christmas away from home for some Russian soldiers. PuddyTat said this would be so damn easy. That was nearly 3 years ago.

How long will it take before the Russian people tell him enough is enough. This war can't last forever.

Agree with this statement fully. That's why ceasefire is needed asap. "Fight until Putin is humbled" lines are only pushed by vested interests from the safety of their sofas far away from Ukraine. Not helpful.

Telling Ukraine they should surrender is not helpful. An unconditional ceasefire has not been offered to them.

You also predicted the front line was going to collapse by the end of September... Good luck with this one too.

Russia near to the victory..

Easy to say from half a world away. How many of the experts advocating the need to prolong the war "until Putin is humbled" have volunteered for the UAF foreign legion? The sound of silence....

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Dictators can do whatever they like, which is both the strong point and weak point of a dictatorship.

Why in God's name should Ukraine cease fire or surrender? They didn't start this stupid war, they're defending their homeland. If Putin even does offer a ceas4efire the Ukrainians should tell him to get those Russian troops the funk out first and leave their nation alone. And pay back war indemnities after that.
