Michelin-starred Kobayashi's Paris home broken into; wife badly injured

Three men broke into the home of Michelin-starred owner-chef Kei Kobayashi in Paris and assaulted his wife, causing her severe injuries, his management office said Saturday.

Kobayashi, the first Asian to earn a three-star rating from the Michelin Guide, was on a business trip at the time of the attack on Thursday morning, the office said, adding the three men fled the scene.

Kobayashi's wife was beaten by the men after trying to prevent them from entering. She sustained injuries that will require two months for a full recovery. A neighbor who heard the disturbance alerted the police, the office said.

There have been a series of robberies targeting the homes of celebrities in Paris, the office said. Kobayashi's French restaurant Kei in Paris earned the three-star rating in the 2020 French edition of the Michelin Guide.

Hmm. How much money, jewelry, etc did they get? Or did they just come to assault her while hubby was conveniently away on a business trip?

Another dent in the Japanese image of Paris as the romantic city of lights where everyone is beautiful and stylish.

I saw a short video from a Japanese woman who lives in Paris. She just uploaded it to Instagram. A pickpocket got his escape route wrong and ended up running into the tunnels of the metro, where the police had to get him.

This chef, if he's that good, could surely do just as well for himself if he came back to Japan and opened a restaurant here.

Safer in Japan. Paris is a slum.

Paris is a filthy crime riddled toilet. Avoid at all costs.

Not when you can charge 150€ for lunch and 580€ for dinner or 280€ for a tasting menu ... don't know about you but don't think I'd be dinning there very often specially on the wages the average Haruto gets here... and I would most likely still be hungry after and need to stop at Lawson for a rice-ball on the way home.

Too bad he did not have a protective dog in the house.. German Shepherd or similar. Would sound a warning then go into action to protect the home and his masters. Adios criminals.

Bad news for everyone, visited Paris and London back in the early 90's had a blast with two friends, never felt threatened or in danger or even seen any trouble around.

The people were friendly, the food was great, visited the Louvre and spent lots of time at night checking out bars and live shows in the red district.

Sad to hear and read the news but then I look around the world these days almost everything is going mad and crazy some more than the others.

What are you inferring by using ..."*while hubby was conveniently away on a business trip?*" Sounds like you are inferring that he was in some way involved on this assault and wanted harm to come to her?

Why don't you start a new conspiracy theory?

Home invasion robberies are as bad as it gets. This seems to have been a problem in France for quite some time, as it happened to an American friend at his country chateau over 20 years ago.

At the time of the Hamas atrocities I said the Israeli response would be biblical.

None of their enemies are safe, anywhere.

Problem is a lot of these 'celebrities' post their whereabouts on Instagram etc. So, thieves know when they are away from home!
