Good to see free countries working together and also India.

Time to Say Goodbye S Brightman will be the appropriate song to play at the event, although the children of Ukraine and Gaza wont be able to enjoy a warm and lavish dinner like this but I am sure they will be more than happy to hear the news.

Ukrainians will only be happy when mass murderer Putin is in the ground.

Oh, I see. Modi in your goodbooks today? Tomorrow, the newspapers will call him a dictator again. Next week, he'll be an ally again.

Quad is dead and buried.

Biden's mind just thinking "Who are these guys?"

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

It must kinda suck to wake up and be approaching irrelevance. Getting together with your fellow lame ducks is probably therapeutic.

Quad is dead and buried.

That's quite funny as none of the countries are going pro-CCP anytime soon.

All of them except Modi will be mentioned as prominent defenders of Ukraine. What have you done to compare?

People have more freedom in China than in the overrated US.

And that's what the people of the US realize when they leave their bubble country and realize the reality is only outside...

This must be sarcasm, or you are really misinformed about both countries.

Quad is dead and buried.

China wishes it were, but thankfully for the rest of us it is still very much alive, and will continue countering China for years to come. Just like AUKUS, NATO, and multiple bilaterals/multilaterals across the region.

Even amid the usual swamp of pro-CCP nonsense on JT, this one takes the award for "most ridiculous post of the day."

Who is running the country?

Someone who isn't a foreign asset.

The Helsinki summit footage doesn't lie. You may chose to ignore it but the rest of us do not.

With all the carry on, silly buggers and chaos of American domestic culture and politics, it’s always a relief to see that it doesn’t affect their foreign policy too much, nor the regional strategy and partnership building.

The Quad will bring hisses and sneers from our Chinese friends, supporters and enablers BUT as an Aussie punching way above our weight class in this Quad alliance, we can thank the Chinese for being the catalyst that brought our four nations together. It will be the base ( and no not man made island reef type bases, it’s a human network base ) for cooperation and stability in the region, a free and open INDO pacific and give us all still a chance to thrive and survive in a rules based world. Solidarity in the face of a belligerent, two faced behavior.

Not a Biden fan at all, but it doesn’t matter. Seeing him share a joke with the other three leaders was a warm, historical moment. Well done fellas. This is above-politics level stuff.

USA nervous at what's going to happen at next month's BRICS meeting.

By the way, BRICS includes India.

2018-Helsinki. Dan Coates is not a politician. He was a GS/NS at the time. And his assessments on 2018 intelligence reports coming in on Russia and on North Korea was warped and naive. Counter productive.

What's naive is the guy who can't make it through a notecard who was president at the time.

As a result. Under Biden & Harris's watch. Look at the where we are today. Look the state of foreign affairs.

We're much stronger because we aren't ignoring foreign assets.

(WAR) on almost every continent practically.

Fat Gut would not have been able to stop Hamas.

And on another raised flag. I see no purpose of Bidens Quad Farwell, other then to provoke and agitate China further. Instead of diplomacy with China. We who serve. Continue to stand in disbelief with this current administrations negligence.

The fact you think China isn't an adversary says it all.

Quad is a positive union for security and order in the Indo-Pacific, so seeing them cooperating more on ever broadening things is a counter in some ways to the continued growth of Chinese belligerence in that region.

I hope there is more details on joint patrols coming out of this gathering.

Bending low to uplift the lowly is an exercise second to none. Working together to feed the hungry, provide shelter to the homeless, protect the Planet from further depletion of its resources, and toil relentlessly to offer security to kids in war-torn regions are missions NOT yet accomplished.

Disgraceful, shameful. Worst President in American history! The absolute worst! Good riddance!

Hardly correct. The worst President in US history by a country mile was 45. Voted by critics, allies and over 81 million American citizens who fired him in 2020. There is no debate on it. Biden has been a hundred times better as President. History will record it so. The history will be scathing of Trump for his failure and damage to US democracy and reputation.

Biden has supported, repaired and grown alliances that Trump damaged and ignored. QUAD is a great example.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Trump is supported by his allies, Trump has repaired in the past and will continue to grow alliances that Obama and Biden damaged and ignored.

Sorry to disagree. Trump alienated traditional allies and ruined trust in America. The only President in memory to be openly laughed at while giving a speech filled with lies and self aggrandizement.

Trumps "allies" are shadows that disappear when the light shines on them, because Trump always uses them as scapegoats when things go wrong as they inevitably do. Trump is not qualified to lead a legitimate company let alone a country. The guy has so many bad qualities he is more focused on getting revenge on other Americans than of fixing problems. His idea of fixing Russia is to give Russia everything it wants. His idea of dealing with trade issues is tariffs, that cost Americans not the country of origin. He is a loser and a stain on American history.

Depth of field. He's the closest to the camera.

Despite all the contumely comments about Trump and Biden, the short-sided view is hilariously bad, James Buchanan wins the "worst president" lottery. Of course, the commentors here are not interested in reality, history, or intelligent discourse. They seem also not to know presidency very much.

Biden chose his hometown of Wilmington for the summit of the four-nation group

Smart choice--hard for him to get lost

As one of my ancestors, he gets a bum rap for not preventing a civil war which no one did.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

TaiwanIsNotChina --

No intention of disparaging your ancestor. However, citing one source closest to my "History of the American Presidents", a book, so I can't include it here:

"James Buchanan, the 15th US president, is largely blamed for allowing the Civil War to ripen. While Buchanan rated slavery as a faith-defying evil, he did nothing to stop the spread of slavery. And as a Confederate bloc slowly formed around Buchanan, he also did nothing. Instead, Buchanan cited the Constitution, saying that the president had no authority to act."

As I said, he's ranked the worst. There are many cites that say essentially the same.

To concern oneself with only the recent presidents is to overlook actual history, although there are many, many cites that do that. Biden and Trump are rated there.
