I beg to differ. The one with Bacula had plenty of arcs throughout.
Quite right. And even DS9 and Voyager, while still essentially episodic both had arcs that spanned over multiple episodes or even seasons

Legend. As bad as the star wars prequels were (at least in my opinion), they became enjoyable when he was appeared.

Posted in: Japanese male porn stars rarer than Bengal tigers, actor says See in context
Maybe there should be some sort of conservation effort put in place. Encourage these male porn stars to breed by surrounding them with highly attractive females. Perhaps both parties could be incentivized by a financial reward for having sex. We could also document the process by filming the encounters.

Oldman
Are you sure about that? I have not looked at detailed figures charting violent crime in Japan over the years. You may very well be right that it's gotten more dangerous but if you don't have the statistics to back it up don't make the mistake of thinking that one incident is necessarily indicative of changing trends.
And I agree with Lucabrasi. Safety is relative. No place on earth is absolutely safe so we can only compare with other places and Japan still comes out well ahead of most places. My hometown of Vancouver is not a particularly dangerous place but I still feel more secure in Osaka.

Posted in: Global warming: Fact or fiction? See in context
This question should be worded to include the ideas that humans are directly to it and that it is harmful to the environment.
That is where the so called debate is occurring although mainly only in the popular media. Scientists are near unanimously in agreement that man made global warming is real and a danger.
the fact that 20% of people out there say fiction even given the broad wording of the question is troubling but given public opinion on the matter in the U.S. it could be far worse I suppose

Posted in: Canada to extradite Chinese man to Japan in 1995 triple murder probe See in context
He will almost surely hang, if found guilty.
Which makes the Canadian court's decision a curious one. In the past Canada has refused to extradite its citizens to countries where they may face the death penalty unless the police/prosecutors promise not to seek it.
I do wonder what kind of case the Japanese police have built. The word of 1 prisoner who was executed 4 years ago doesn't see particularly strong.

Posted in: New DPJ leader Kaieda says party is 'necessary for Japan' See in context
The clear majority of voters would disagree.
Sheesh talk about kicking someone when they're down. Look at basically any party in a parliamentary system like Japan's (Canada, U.K., Australia etc..) and you'll find historical election results as bad as what the DPJ just suffered. One bad defeat doesn't mean they need to go away permanently. They still got the second most number of seats and for what it's worth given the hawkish nature of the 1st and 3rd most powerful parties right now I'd say the DPJ is more necessary than ever.
